2 cents. Becareful with the super glue trick, I have used it numerous times. You have to remember it is industrial glue not surgical. I have used it in the jungles to seal wounds. I had a friend while in the jungle accidently mix it up with eye drops and put it in his eye he was fine after a day or two. You should only use it in emergency situation Hemostats and dermabond is a better product if you can find it.

It can cause infections but better than bleeding to death.

SUPER GLUE for emergency delivery:

I have heard that midwives use superglue to repair tears that occur during delivery of a baby.

I believe that 1st degree tears can heal on their own and 2nd and maybe 3rd degree tears can be glued with the superglue.

Because it is critical that a tear be repaired within 8 hours of the initial trauma, and if you absolutely cannot get medical help - this might be an option for someone. I hope NOT!!!!!

But it's there for you.

If you are pregnant, please gather as much information as possible and consult a doctor or midwife regarding a treatment like this.

(I'm NOT a medical Practitioner!!!!)

IMHO, still would be safer to use steri-strips and liquid bandages as that's what they're made for - we don't know if Super Glue has other chemicals in it?

As for child birthing, all I can say is ouch! slow and easy does it, but that's easier said than done!

No superglu!  Get the liquid bandage, trust me, as an army guy we try everything from duct tape to superglu...liquid bandage works muuuchhh better.  Or steri-strips they work best for deep cuts.  Clean wound really well first.  The stuff they use in surgery just looks like superglu, its a medical surgical glu but not the same.

Dermabond is one medical brand name of glue used to repair a minor laceration that does not need suturing, but it is rather expensive. I think there is a veterinarian brand that is much cheaper though, but I can not remember the name.
