I know I am right because none of what I say is my own ideas or statements, they are all quotes.

If what Joseph Smith said was the gospel then why has recent lds church "prophets" changed some of his teachings?  IE  Smith taught that the Black man was to be excluded, yet a lds church "prophet" changed that. How can that be? Is every thing Smith said subject to change by latter day "prophets"?

YES!!

Waterboy, I admire the fact that you are honest.  I believe you are misled but that is only my opinion.

What you have just said is that nothing in the mormon religion is set in concrete (carved in stone, unchangeable).  That would be a hard religion to follow as it can change from day to day if it wants, as led by the current and future"prophets" which are elected by man and not appointed by GOD  just like the Pope.

You sill have not answered the age of this planet issue.  Is it the the word of GOD or is it mans word we are to believe?  You said you read the Bible!!!

It doesn't change day to day. The Prophet had a revelation. That's why it changed. Oh by the way. By the fruits you shall know.
The LDS church bears good fruit. Perfect fruit. If it was of Satan it would bear BAD fruit. The church is true. It's hard to be a good Mormon. You have to live righteously day to day.Live the commandments and do good continually....

P.S. The prophets are called of God. They are not voted in. They are chosen by who is next in line. Not by a vote.

So who determines who is in line? Can I get in that line?  I would make good member of the quorum of 12 right?  How does GOD put these men in line?
Jesus Christ died and was raised on the third day, the only "God" to overcome death.

The longest standing member of the quorum would be called to be the next Prophet of the church.

I understand that but the question was who selects the quorum?
Is the selection based on works, accomplishments ect?

Now there are three ? for you to answer.

Romney at BYU: Being a Mormon is not a burden

There was a time when Mitt Romney’s Mormon faith was a curiosity, prompting the Republican to speak out about his beliefs and explain how they would inform his presidency before he ran the first time in 2008.

Fast forward to Tuesday and the 2012 GOP presidential nominee shared insights on his religion at Brigham Young University, the school owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his alma mater.

He urged the BYU students, most of them Mormon, to view their religion as a “blessing” and not as a hardship. From Romney’s prepared remarks, as posted on the BYU website:

There may be times in your life when you may feel that it is a bit of a burden being a member of the Church. Some folks will think you’re not Christian, some may be insulted that you don’t drink, and others will think you’re trying to be better than them by not swearing. But I can affirm this: your fellow members of the Church will be a blessing to you that far more than compensates. They will bless you when you are sick, lift you up when you fall, help you raise a teenager, counsel you about a job, and yes, even move your unpacked junk. We are not perfect. As a matter of fact, in many things we are probably no better than anyone else. But we are remarkably good at reaching out our hands to one another in need. Decide to be one of those who does just that.

Romney easily won the votes of white Protestant and Catholic voters, voters who attend church weekly and born-again Christians, according to 2012 exit polls.

Romney showed off his sense of humor in his remarks, talking about how he won the “silver medal” in the presidency and even making a joke about polygamy and Mormon Church founder Joseph Smith.

Back when he was a BYU student, Romney said, “Emma Smith was Joseph Smith’s only wife.” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently acknowledged Joseph Smith practiced “plural marriage” and once had as many as 14 wives.

All secret societies will only tell the truth when they are forced too.  The mormon church is based much on the theology of the Jesuit order of the Roman church and the Masons which were started by the Jesuits  both secret societies as is the mormon church.  You only find out what they teach after you have been thoroughly indoctrinated.

Still waiting for you to answer the ? poised in this thread.

Well stars are less boring than dots, Waterboy.  Perhaps there will be conversation again.

We read the Bible because it is the "word of God".
The quorum is chosen through revalation. The Prophet and the quorum pray who will be called to the quorum. Divine intervention. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. Read it and you will too know...

The earth is 4.54 billion years old. Why is that important?

Waterboy please refrain from calling Astrologic a nutjob or other names.  I understand you feel she has insulted your religion to which you hold very dear.  But calling her names does not reflect well on you or that religion.  There are challengers to every religion & we are to meet those challengers with fact & scripture.  Kindness & respect.  Astro has experience with the Mormon religion & church so she has a right to speak out against them if her experience was as painful as it seems to have been.

I am a Christian.  If someone came to me swearing & cursing a Baptist church or the bible or whatever I would not say to them, you are a nutjob... I would say, why are you so angry about it, what happened.  After they shared with me what went wrong in their church I would express how sorry I am that happened to them.  I would share with them that not all churches/pastors are that way & if ever they wanted to try again I'd be here to talk or go with them if they wanted.  Not saying you have to buddy up to Astro but do try to be a little nicer.

Mormonism is a sex cult not a religion.

let us be straight about that.

Like all cults the members are brainwashed zombies.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.
