When U.S. soldiers are weeping on a video, being mocked by the captures on the eve of Iran Independence from the Shah in President Jimmy Carter's total mess up of the hostage situation, it is time to take note in history, we have reached a very large line drawn in the sand.
There is not much more the U.S. could do to help Iran make nuclear missiles than end the sanctions allowing them to produce millions of barrels of oil, develop without regard their arsenal, long range missile, satellite capability, and even submarines. Letting them in Iraq as a major combatant on the ground while at the same time some of their sponsored terrorists are targeting and killing American soldiers is not okay. There is an old story about a frog and a scorpion. The scorpion asks the frog for a ride swimming across the river and the frog makes him (her) promise not to sting him. In the middle of the journey the Scorpion stings the frog and as they are sinking the frog pleads - asks why did you sting me - now we both will die? My version of this would be "You knew I was a scorpion and I just couldn't help myself. It is my nature." Lawrence of Arabia understood the Bedouin Muslims. He was a man of strength and apt to do unpredictable things. He led a handful of warriors across the Anvil to take a city no one thought could be taken. Where are you El Lawrence in these times where if there anyway to fight with - not against the Arabs - you would show them you could do anything - however unexpected to win? There is no place in the battle for kings with horses with no horseshoes. In fact there is no place for Commander and Chiefs of great armies that is any less than a tried and tested brave and true warrior. If you hand someone a loaded gun, it is your own fault if you get shot. If anyone displays weakness in foreign policy in these days of weapons and nukes capable of vaporizing our cities, they are dead meat. It is that simple. We do not need a thousand newscasters and experts analyzing things and telling us how to think. It is plain common sense. I am not a Hilary fan but if she had bombed their nuclear development facilities with a tactical nuke that March several years ago which I posted here, we would not have the issues we are having. Lifting the sanctions was suicide. After a nation over more than a decade does not make any real effort to stop and simply has no intention of doing so, why trust them? You can't blame them or their leaders. There was a time when we held the power and leadership to police the planet or at least join with other nations in doing so. I will not be surprised when Israel attacks Iran. There is no way they will let them reach the point of having a nuclear missile and being able to use it. Out there in the heat and sand it gets tough. It isn't the jungle of Vietnam. It is worse. Iran is moving towards becoming one of the most powerful nations on earth with oil, weapons, and children that are trained from infancy to fight. Wrong or right - if we do not fight for our nation and our democracy in someway on some battlefield... we are going to lose them- both our freedom and our countries. All of the Western countries. We will be back in Spain with Le Cid dead on a horse hoping somehow we can stop them and see a mushroom cloud over the ocean and know - we are too late. Medclinician |
