I just purchased several packages of "Uncle Ben's" and "Rice a Roni" rice. They come in microwaveable packages. You tear them open, heat up in 60 seconds. They tasted almost the same as regular rice. Very tastey, firm. I found them 10/$10.00. These would make geat items for long term storage with limited space,i.e. car and bug out bags, plastic containers. They come in numerous flavors..or white to make that "spam" a little better!

I bought a few packages of Zatarain's rice that has sausage included. My hubby loves rice so I thought that would be a nice treat for him. He is mad that I won't let him eat it now. Ha Ha

When they first came out the rice packs were $1 and I stocked up. Now
they're at least 25 cents more and never seem to go on sale here.
They're so convenient that my supply has almost disappeared. BTW I
tried a pack of Comet brand plain rice and didn't think it was as good
as the other brands. It had a hard consistency like it wasn't fully
cooked.

The dollar tree has a ready rice in four flavors for $1. A week or so they were .25. They do taste great and I purchased several dollars worth.

Gretchen,
Would it be possible to post the name of the Zatarain. I tried to find it with the sausage, but was not able to. I would appreciate it.
Thanks.
