DJ-One of the major problems is that the IPCC is lying;
http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2018/10/ipcc-keeps-feeding-the-addiction.html

Of course media claiming that extreme weather causing billions worth of damage https://www.wunderground.com/news/storms/hurricane/news/2018-10-10-hurricane-michael-billion-dollar-weather-disasters-2018 are "incidents" are part of the problem as well. Failing to connect the dots, draw conclusions is misleading the public.

Most of the media are owned by those who also have interests in fossil fuels.

The only positive trend is that more and more people realize that doing nothing will cost much more then-finaly-try to deal with rapid escalating climate change. https://www.voanews.com/a/wfp-climate-change-to-accelerate-world-hunger/4612092.html

http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2018/10/what-does-runaway-warming-look-like.html

DJ-"Michael" may be a symptom of a "disease" called (rapid) climate change.
The shocking fact is that a sharp temperature increase may happen very fast (weeks, months ?) From Arctic-news.blogspot;

What Does Runaway Warming Look Like?

The forcing caused by the rapid rise in the levels of greenhouse gases is far out of line with current temperatures. A 10°C higher temperature is more in line with these levels, as illustrated by the image below.

(DJ-It did not copy a graph showing that present levels of CO2 and CH4 (methane) are related with a temperature of 10C+ based on ice-cores)

Carbon dioxide levels have been above 400 ppm for years. Methane levels above 1900 ppb were recorded in September 2018. Such high levels are more in line with a 10°C higher temperature, as illustrated by the above graph based on 420,000 years of ice core data from Vostok, Antarctica, research station.

How fast could such a 10°C temperature rise eventuate? The image below gives an idea.

(DJ-the story is 10C+ by 2026, but basicly-others claim temperatures can go up so much faster with a massive methane release-wich may already be on its way !)

Such runaway warming would first of all and most prominently become manifest in the Arctic. In many ways, such a rise is already underway, as the remainder of this post will show.

High Arctic Temperatures

(DJ-The Arctic should be re-freezing-it is not-seems to be warming up !!!)

Why are Arctic temperatures currently so high for the time of year?

(DJ-Most 93% of global warming and CO2 went into the oceans-it is now released at the poles. The jet-stream is disrupted due to less temperature difference between the equator and the poles so that jetstream is transporting more often warmth to the poles (and polair cold away from the poles. Also salt water/ice melts at -2C-so more open ocean absorbing heat instead of ice reflecting it.)

DJ-Even the IPCC does not believe the Paris-agreement is doing its job. If we have to stay below 2C temperature increase by 2100 (above that life on Earth is in danger) much more drastic action is needed.

DJ-With the total lack of international cooperation, most countries going after short term economic growth in stead of dealing with the climate crisis things only will get much worse very fast.

DJ-Human rights are not only for "us" and "now"but also for next generations in their lifetime....

I could not believe the US giving up on trying to slow down climate change-but it looks like they did.
https://jpratt27.wordpress.com/2018/09/29/trump-administration-sees-a-7-degree-rise-in-global-temperatures-by-2100-auspol-qldpol-nswpol-climatechange-stopadani-endcoal/

All over the world politics is simply failing to deal with the crisis. http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2018/09/looking-the-climate-abyss-in-the-eye.html

DJ-"Extreme weather" will be normal within a few years, this means our "civilization"(or lack of it) will collapse.

http://www.moonofalabama.org/2018/09/musings-on-climate-change.html#

The Trump administration admits that climate change will increase the global temperature more than anticipated:

Last month, deep in a 500-page environmental impact statement, the Trump administration made a startling assumption: On its current course, the planet will warm a disastrous 7 degrees [Fahrenheit] by the end of this century.
A rise of 7 degrees Fahrenheit, or about 4 degrees Celsius, compared with preindustrial levels would be catastrophic, according to scientists.

That increase though, says the Trump administration, is no reason to stop emitting gases that, for a large part, cause such warming:

But the administration did not offer this dire forecast, premised on the idea that the world will fail to cut its greenhouse gas emissions, as part of an argument to combat climate change. Just the opposite: The analysis assumes the planet’s fate is already sealed.
"The child already fell into the well, there is no longer any need to cover it."

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/earth-insight/2013/aug/05/7-facts-need-to-know-arctic-methane-time-bomb?CMP=share_btn_fb

DJ-Methane release can be a major factor in abrupt climate change. The International Panel on Climate Change IPCC did not include methane release in their models because of "uncertenties". http://www.washington.edu/news/2018/08/14/diving-robots-find-antarctic-winter-seas-exhale-surprising-amounts-of-carbon-dioxide/ The oceans around Antarctica are not the sink for CO2 scientists once believed they would be. Also forests (like the Amazon and other rainforests) have limits for CO2-intakes. There is a limit in how much heat and CO2 the oceans can take. Abrupt-climate-change-models may be far more realistic than the IPCC models. A mega-burst of methane from the Arctic may already be taking place.....

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/a3q9je/the-glaciers-on-earths-third-pole-are-bursting-causing-deadly-floods?utm_campaign=sharebutton(DJ-A lot of higher mountains are "glued"together by ice. When the ice melts the top of the mountains collapses. )

DJ-For whatever reasons some scientists do not do a proper job;
What I discovered was that Skeptical Science's unusually skewered analysis was extremely selective, and focused almost exclusively on the narrow arguments of scientists out of touch with cutting edge developments in the Arctic. Here's what you need to know.

Some (of many) articles worth reading;

https://www.truthdig.com/articles/the-coming-collapse/(2) "Democracies" being taken over by big companies stop being democracies (and not only in the US !)

http://www.moonofalabama.org/2018/07/trumps-false-arguments-will-not-sell-well-in-europe.html# (4) DJ-NATO was a problem from the start-a main cause for the cold war since 1949. Since 2001 NATO-in covert actions-did start many wars for the interest of a very rich elite. Spending up to 4% og GDP on weapons is insane-we need more money to deal with climate change (and healthcare education etc.)

Some other remarks on Guy McPherson;

-You still may see surface sea ice in the Arctic but the water below could be above freezing-making a large methane release possible. (One of the doom scenario's could be lightning making a methane cloud explode ?????) In other words-you may not need an ice-free-Arctic to see a large methane eruption (in the short term methane can contain heat up to 200 times more than CO2-a major methane release=a major lift for temperature-the methane release could be a cause for an ice-free Arctic.)

present climate disasters may bring a halt to western society. How much earthquakes, hurricane's, tsunami's, volcanic eruptions, wild fires etc. can a (western) country deal with ? A combination of disasters-most of them climate change related-will effect food production and distribution, healthcare, housing, public order etc.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lingchi(3) "Death by a 1000 cuts" of society having to deal with disaster after disaster may fit more in the exponential-abrupt- climate change model.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-Inrv4vxGg july 9 interview

-What I like from Guy McPherson is his coherent view-for any civilization to exist you need food. Food production needs good temperature, grounds, water etc. Climate change will disrupt that....

-What I hate from Guy McPherson is how you tell next generations his story....He is repeating his story for years-that does not make the essence of his story untrue. I hope he is incorrect-that he-and many others-got it wrong-"we" as 7.6bln humans-in peacefull coexistence with other lifeforms-can go on forever. Guy McP. makes clear that such is a fairytale...

Will society collapse this year or next year ? As far as I know the Arctic may keep it's ice this year. So when Guy relates a collapse to an ice-free-Arctic I think he is wrong-for the time being.

Hmmmmmm...................  He predicted the fall of civilization within a decade back in 2000, as a result of peak oil, so he already has some credibility issues.  This does not mean he is wrong (for instance oil has peaked) but does suggest a tendancy to over-react.

For what it is worth, I think him correct about climate reaching a tipping point, but to be adaptable is the ultimate survival trait and humans are the quintessance of adaptabilty.

Ps., Hubby also thinks him a year out on the tipping point.
Absence of proof is not proof of absence.

anybody follow Guy McPherson ?
if you've seen any of his most recent presentations
you are aware that he is ,for lack of a better word"  predicting pretty much the collapse of everything
starting in Sept or Oct OF THIS YEAR
not only eco collapse but financial/governmental collapse as well

of course we have been hearing predictions of financial collapse since the last collapse of 2008
I am very surprised that Guy is "setting a date"
if his "prediction" is wrong it will go a LONG way in destroying his credibility

now excuse me
I have to take up smoking,drinking and just sinnin' in general
time is a wastin'LOL

DJ-International chaos rules-the situation-at the moment-is such a chaos-shocking does not describe it.

(Of course human suffering should be the main concern-from increase in slave-trade to massive death of refugees on their way to the EU/US)

http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2018/07/numerous-benefits-of-100-clean-renewable-energy.html and http://theduran.com/the-return-of-great-power-competition-trump-putin-and-xi-navigate-multipolar-world-video/ The "power base" is dominating the global energy market. Russia is building nuclear powerplants in Egypt, Turkey, selling its weapons to Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia.
The US tried to use oil as a weapon. 1-Large oil production (by the US and Saudi Arabia) would keep the petro-dollar alive and keep the price of oil down.
2-A low oil price (in US$) would damage Russia(n oil production) and push China to keep paying in US$ for energy. That strategy completely failed. Due to trade wars China is buying oil from Iran and Africa (in gold backed Yuan).
3-Oil/fossil fuels are a thing of the past-if the "industry" wants to profit from it they have to be fast-renewables are the future (if there is any future). So fossil fuel production going up, prices going down-climate change speeding up.

As Robert Scribler describes-temperature rise of 1C=increase of water vapor by 8%. Evaporation from the heated oceans is going up-extreme weather is the new normal.

(I am turning more and more to my books-looking at the past-the future is "dark"-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POzSXzwbwIc:
See a clinic full of cynics
Who want to twist the peoples' wrist
They're watching every move we make
We're all included on the list
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
No nuclear the cowboy told us
And who am I to disagree
'Cause when the madman flips the switch
The nuclear will go for me
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
I've seen the faces of starvation
But I just can not see the points
'Cause there's so much food here today
That no one wants to take away

THE ENERGY CLIFF APPROACHES: World Oil & Gas Discoveries Continue To Decline

As the world continues to burn energy like there is no tomorrow, global oil and gas discoveries fell to another low in 2017.  And to make matters worse, world oil investment has dropped 45% from its peak in 2014.  If the world oil industry doesn't increase its capital expenditures significantly, we are going to hit the Energy Cliff much sooner than later.

According to Rystad Energy, total global conventional oil and gas discoveries fell to a low of 6.7 billion barrels of oil equivalent (Boe).  To arrive at a Boe, Rystad Energy converts natural gas to a barrel of oil equivalent.  In 2012, the world discovered 30 billion Boe of oil and gas versus the 6.7 billion Boe last year:

DJ-The present climate chaos will bring:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxuG-aWKj8A (Sharp) increase of hurricanes and global duststorms

The atmosphere itself is changing fast giving room for UV-C reaching the surface-a sharp increase in skincancer is on its way, but also small creatures will get killed by the radiation-effecting the foodchain.
More land becoming desert, foodproduction getting difficult-with storms making food distribution a harder job as well.

http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2018/07/can-we-weather-the-danger-zone.html Sealevelrise, ice-melt, may go way faster than any model did predict. Bringing an increase in earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Maybe those volcanic eruptions may give humans some time to maybe be able to slow down the collapse.......

Red-hot planet: All-time heat records have been set all over the world during the past week

and yet the political pundits on the "conservative" side
continue to insist nothing is wrong with the planet
apparently in their world 2+2  does not equal 4

We had a very dry june-still for statistics-since we had some rain june 1st-it was not recordbreaking for the Netherlands. Since there is rain falling in the "riversystem" in France, Germany waterlevel in the rivers are not dropping extreme. Still "we" have to keep the dykes wet-otherwise dikes my dry out and break. Also an increase for "piping" water running under the dykes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_erosion. A sharp increase in natural fires.

On a global scale;

More gloom&doom;

DJ-https://www.facebook.com/JoseBarbaNueva is following methane, radiation etc. on his facebook-page. With his military background also his claim the cia is the drugs-gang#1 may be serious....

Normaly I would put this kind of "news" in the dungeon.  https://www.facebook.com/albert.kallio gives this link to the "Baltic incident" https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/21/nato-jet-buzzes-russian-ministers-plane-military-hostilities/ (Veli Albert Kallio earlier claimed that in the middle of june a baltic state shot down a russian fighter after wich Russia sunk three NATO boats/ships)
