New alert over killer cat disease which swept these Birmingham postcodes

Staggeringly, over 40 poor pets were affected by the disease last summer

Updated10:24, 12 JUN 2018

Pet owners must vaccinate their cats to prevent a repeat of last year's fatal virus, the RPSCA has urged.

Cats presented for treatment at the charity’s Newbrook Animal Hospital near Birmingham were struck down from feline panleukopenia.

Staggeringly, over 40 poor pets were affected by the disease last summer.

The disease is most often fatal to cats and kittens and is extremely contagious between cats.

Yet the disease is entirely preventable provided kittens and adult cats receive their core vaccines.

The infected cats were collected from the following postcode areas: B8, B9, B11 B12, B16, B18, B19, B21, B28, B33, B44, B67, B95.
