Emergency Supplies

Home-Office, Vehicle and Personal

NOTE- This list is long and not very exciting... PLEASE scroll down see that you can use some of the information before you get discouraged.. then either print it out (along with vehicle list) and slowly review it, or bookmark this page and come back later..-you are bound to get something out of this list or the links at the end to help you in your project.Thanks.

PERSONAL EMERGENCY PACK, VEHICLE EMERGENCY KIT & HOME SUPPLIES

Explanation of the Purpose of this Webpage- There are many references availiable that can help you plan and prepare your various emergency supplies for your individual needs, you already have most of these items. There are lots of internet sites with links and information out on the web, you found this one..there are others, all with different ideas. This list made from collecting lists for years, and updating it with items from other lists.
The contents of these lists may be more or less than you need. The information is presented to give you something to think about, and help develop your very own plans and supplies..
Remember, ultimately you will have to carry your personal survival pack. . A Backpack with fanny pack and belt pack with compartments and water bottle is good balance and distribuition of items. Place the items in locations handy during travel.IF YOU CAN NOT CARRY IT....PULL OR PUSH IT. PUT IT ON WHEELS..Larger wheels work better in rough terrain. walking stick?
Remember to rotate any food or water supplies, and check pack periodically. You will want to have additional items that you can use to live in your home as long as practical, but maintain the abillity to pick up your Survival Pack and evacuate as necessary. The vehicle pack can be minimal and supplimented. The home supplies can be organized in containers and supplimented with existing supplies.
GENERAL STRATEGY- A small Personal Survival Pack stored in your Vehicle, locker, or workplace is a good start. You may not be able to get home or an emergency may happen while you are away from home. Other Items are helpful in the car too, a Vehicle Pack, containing a few tools and safety items is always good to have. A larger Primary Emergency Pack at home, with an auxilary fanny or waist pack so you can carry the maximum amount, distributed for your comfort (or with others carrying one of the packs). Home Emergency Supplies should be stored preferably in a cool place, where you can get to them in easily transported containers. New Plastic 33 gallon garbage cans, or Rubbermaid "Action Packers", suitcases, surplus military boxes, steamer trunks, etc.
A minimal amount is perhaps food, water and medicine for 2 weeks, with 2 months or more for each family member is recommended. (Do not forget your pets too!) Make a list of items that may be located eslewhere, and place it outside your pack so you will remember to gather those items too.
It is best that you read articles, and books on related topics of interest for planning your portable and home emergency supply resources. Emergency Planning, Food Storage, First Aid, Survival Skils, Emergency Medical Care, Camping, Backpacking, Amateur Radio, and Personal Security are all topics you may find of interest.
Good Luck and I hope you never need your packs and supplies, but if you do, I hope you find this information useful.
