I am very concerned about my horses getting this flu.  I just read an article that in England the companies that insure race horse are saying they will not pay out if the horses die of bird flu.  My barn always have bird making nest inside...we don't know how to keep them out.  Bird poop is everywhere.  We recently put shield around their feed areas to try to keep them clean.

They just stopped taking on racehorse cover for BF:

U.K. insurers pull racehorse cover for bird flu
Posted on March 09, 2006 12:28 PM CST

LONDON (Reuters)—U.K. insurance underwriters are refusing to cover
thoroughbred horses against bird flu, for fear that an epidemic among
horses could potentially cost them tens of millions of pounds.

Bloodstock underwriters at Lloyd's of London, who insure racing and
competition horses, are introducing exclusions to their policies to protect
themselves against claims if thoroughbred horses die from a mutated
version of bird flu.

When does that extend to people? Anyone tried insuring their granny
recently?

I asked admin to combine the two threads.

A little bit early for bringing them inside the house! How often do you do
that anyway!!! I think that is just the insurance industry being in front of the
crowd when TSHTF. Lloyds of London nearly went broke several years ago
for not reacting quick enough. I think though, that if you were going to
insure someone/yourself/etc. You should be doing it now before they
restrict it for BF. Getting Life insurance is going to be tough once the
pandemic starts.
