Avian Flu...Truth or Conspiracy?

 Outbreaks of Avian or Bird Flu have been reported to have occured in poultry in 8 asian countries ( Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, S.Korea, Thailand, & Vietnam) recently. Malasia and Turkey are the most recent additions. The virus usually does not infect humans, however there have been reported cases of human contact, and the death rate has been about 50%.
George W. Bush seems to be really pushing for not only a vaccine, but for Congress to give him the power to use the military in law enforcement roles in the event of a bird flu pandemic here in the United States! Bush even brought up the idea of forced quarantine! We have the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 which bans the military from participating in police-type activity on U.S. soil, but Bush would just love to overturn that. Giving the military a law enforcement role here in the U.S. is not only Draconian in nature, but basically martial law.
There has been talk from conspiracy theorists that this is just a way for Bush to not only re-direct our attention to something else besides the Iraq War f**k-up, Hurricane Katrina f**k-up, plummeting polls, corrupt administration, etc, but an attempt to rig the laws to accommodate his vision of a police state and give tremendous control and power over the United States citizens.
Although most reports claim there is no vaccine as of yet, most people don't know that Australia does have an antiviral drug that can protect against bird flu. In fact, they have sold out of it. A French vaccine maker, Sanofi-Pasteur, also has a bird flu vaccine that the U.S. just bought $100 million dollars worth from.
Should we be concerned, or is this just another fearmongering campaign to make millions for the big pharmaceutical companys & keep us suffocated by Big Brother??? Is Bush trying to drive our attention away from his many f**k-ups and instill fear in us? Remember SARS was never what they cracked it up to be.
One thing is clear, if an avian flu outbreak did occur here, then the justification to withhold our Constitutional rights will be pushed to the max. In April, Bush added pandemic influenza to a list of diseases for which mandatory quarantine is authorized. It has me thinking...what about you?

	I dont particularily like Bush and his Born again Christion reconstuctionist governament plans, but I really dont think he is responsible nor using this as a diversionary tactic. The whole Bush thing has been about eliminating government Social programs (200+and counting), turning it over to Churches, taking control of the judicial branch, and planting the seed for the destruction of Public Eduction and Social Security. These plans have been in the works for some time, and they just are expecting that average Joe-Blow wont put it all together. Oh and last but not least is Expanding Executive Power to almost Imperialist status (King George) LOL. To be blunt, it is all unraveling for Bush and Bird Flu isnt going to save him or his reconstuctionist buddies at this point (America Has Awoken). And Ill bet he didnt eat any chicken in his little trip to India, Packistan, Aphganistan, and where ever else he is off to. This is just my opinion and does not reflect this site or anyone else on this site. After all I wouldnt want the NSA listening in on everyone here. Oh forgot to add Bankrupting the countries economic stucture 7,000,000,000 (Sorry) Thats around 35,000 per houshold. Are you worried yet (You Should Be)

	That picture really scares me . The wronge masks no goggles. What is really scary is I quess that these guys think they are totally protected and these pictures were a photo opportunity to reassure people but in truth no better thatn the guys with white suits ans no gloves no mask no goggles We are really doomed

	Bush will use bird flu to help achieve other aims, but this is unfortunately normal behaviour. And it doesnt actually mean anything in terms of whether bird flu is really a threat. Its opportunism, but it doesnt mean they faked the opportunity, just making the best (for them) of the situation. Some cynicism towards health scares in understandable, after-all there have been many nasty diseases that didnt go global despite lots of tabloid headlines. But anybody who has studied influenza pandemics knows that this is different, because they something we have seen before, and one is overdue. Mmm I remember when Bush signed the Quarantine thing last April, people who were alert for bird flu wondered if this was a sign that the pandemic was about to start. People went looking to see what recent news could of triggered it. But its nearly a year later and pandemic hasnt started yet, so would like to know what did trigger the quarantine order, but likely I will never know.
