BEIJING (AP) - China has confirmed a 30-year-old student just back from the United States as its first case of swine flu on the mainland and its second overall.

China has quarantined dozens of other people who were on a flight with the student from Beijing to Chengdu.

Chinese officials say the 30-year-old patient, who's in stable condition, had been studying at the University of Missouri and developed symptoms while on the last leg of his trip home. He'd departed St. Louis on Thursday.

Sixty-three of the 150 passengers from the flight from Beijing to Chengdu have been located and placed in quarantine. Officials are looking for other passengers on earlier legs of his flight.

China has been accused in the past of not acting quickly enough to combat the spread of diseases, especially the 2003 global outbreak of SARS.
