I work long term care in Southern California.  Per orders from the state and county we had mass testing on June 9.   The tests where submitted through the county health department.   We just yesterday starting receiving results.   It is crazy that this far into this test results can still take a LONG time to come back.   We have received 46 results from 77 residents.   8-11 have been confirmed positive.   We still have no results for the staff.   Of the confirmed positives only 3 are symptomatic.   There is probably another 3-5 showing symptoms that either tested negative then or the results are still pending.   We have 1 or 2 in the hospital, and we had already discharged 2 or 3 that where positive.

For myself I had very mild cold like symptoms early this week.   No fever but I had burning in my sinuses and throat.  I also experienced odd mental effects/malase, and some fatigue.   My symptoms are gone.    Next Monday would be a full week from when I had my minor symptoms and the one week time seems to be when the illness gets bad.  However I am sypmtom free now so I think I will be fine.    I just need to make sure I sleep good and keep my stress down.   Going foward  I think I want to tell my boss I want to work exclusively with the positive patients.    I would be much more at peace because I know I can't get them sick.   I am terrified of exposing someone who isn't already sick.

If you had Covid so recently, I believe there's a likelihood you would still test positive.  I don't know if this is an option, but I'd ask for an anti-gen test too.

So my test was a week before my mild symptoms.... so I would only give it a 50/50 chance of catching it.    Everybody will be tested next Tuesday and every Tuesday after till we are done with the virus.   We are told the new test will only take 24-48 hours to come back.   I am hoping I actually tested positive... that would be a very good sign for me.   That would mean I was exposed many days before June 9, and I am quickly coming up on my 2 weeks incubation time.

If I don't test positive at work,  I will pay for anti-gen testing out of pocket.   I don't think it will be available at work.

MTA:  I have heard it can take several weeks after exposure  before antibiodies will show up on a test,   so I should probably wait for that testing.

I work at a women's shelter and have been on furlough since March 18th. We have 11 employees, 3 of them had Covid-19 and got sick starting the week after we went on furlough, including myself. I had muscle aches, chills, head and chest congestion, cough, headache and basically couldn't really do anything but lay around or sleep for several days. The only thing that saved me from going in to the ER was using my nebulizer (I have asthma) with albuterol and steroids in it. I had an antibody test done last week and did NOT have Covid-19. I go back to work this coming Monday. One of the women who got sick is STILL off, finally of the ventilator and now in a rehab.

Sorry for the late response... but here goes.   I don't know of anything suggesting hospitalization rates are going up.   Yes positive tests are going up because the state is testing WAY more.  Previously we didn't even have tests kits available.   Even if we sent someone to the hospital for testing we would usually hear "they don't meet the criteria"  Now there is mandatory testing at all care centers.  Nobody in my family is complaining of symptoms thank God.   My family members have lots of co-morbidtties so it would be bad for them to get sick.   I am in my early 40's.   However the best I can tell despite all the hype, age it self isn't a risk factor.   Many older folks do just fine.   The big issues are:  obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.   It just so happens that most older folks often  have issues with those three things.

Thankfully obesity and diabetes are usually 100% controllable through diet and lifestyle interventions.  Heart disease maybe as well, but research seems to suggest genetics and environmental factors play a huge role.

Myself over the last 10months I have lost about 30lbs.   First through intermittent fasting, then giving up sugar.   Then I progressed to a full on ketogenic diet.   Research suggests that keto can help with influenza.    Also anecdotal evidence suggests that it may even give immunity to some repository infections such as corona virus.   Nonetheless if diabetes is a risk factor....   my metobolizm is set up to function in a polar opposite way.
