Coronavirus: US passenger from Westerdam cruise ship infected, Malaysia confirms
The 83-year-old woman flew to Malaysia with 144 fellow passengers after disembarking from the ship in Cambodia
The Westerdam had been stranded at sea for two weeks after being blocked by five nations over coronavirus fears, until Cambodia allowed it to dock

"The ship arrived at an anchoring point in the port of Sihanoukville early on Thursday morning to allow Cambodian officials to board and collect samples from passengers with any signs of ill health or flu-like symptoms.

The passengers were tested regularly on board, and Cambodia also tested 20 once it docked on Thursday. All the fluid samples came back negative for the coronavirus, Cambodian authorities said."

Does anyone else get the feeling that the WHO should just man up and announce that the test kits are a total failure and to please NOT rely on them before turning people who 'should be' quarantined for 30 days (to be safe) - loose on the masses???? The photo shows the Cambodian official and others on land with no protective gear, reaching hand out to shake (I assume)… how long till Cambodia has cases (related to this)?

Excellent article. This begs the question, how many others that disembarked from that ship are infected? As they almost certainly are? I just visualize these lines of infection traveling the globe away from Cambodia...asymptomatic transmission, long incubation period, and symptoms that mimic the common cold at first. Very scary.

I agree. The real danger is that people are scared of declaring that they are unwell. As we can see in China, any kind of symptom or fever, regardless of it's cause, results in the person being forcibly rounded up and put into a quarantine camp where, if they didn't already have it, they will soon get it.

I'm guessing that the people of China are thinking it's better to have it at home in secret than to go to these camps, and to only declare it if it turns serious and they need hospital care. This must be the reason people are being offered money to report anyone they suspect of being ill.

It must also be the reason why people are scrambling to get to other countries by air where they think they'll get better medical treatment. Think of the woman who arrived at London Heathrow this week from China and took herself to hospital the following day by Uber. She must have known prior to boarding that flight.
You can't fix stupid.
