I've been researching for two days now about the fatality rate of those with underlying illness contracting Covid-19 because I have controlled hypertension.  With medication it generally runs about 110/70 to about 120/75.

Diabetes and hypertension are both 8% fatality.  The odd thing I'm finding is that if diabetes is controlled it drops down to regular age group levels.  I'm curious if anyone knows if that is also true of controlled hypertension?

Me too. On  the hypertension. working in Public Safety & Health  I would think if controlled and your meds are available that would not be a factor.

To edit, be careful of any cold med, not a prescription and OTC that they don''t raise you BP.

Thanks, CST.  It make sense to me too!  I just didn't know if there was some organic reason the two differ.  I ran OTC Mucinex and Mucinex DM past the pharmacist and she said both were okay for me to take.   Neither of them should raise my BP.  She did note that because I'm on blood thinners, I need to take my BP twice a day while taking them.  She said elevated BP is the first indication of bleeding.
