Thinking through what Governor Cuomo is saying in his press briefing, NY will be locked down for at least another 8 weeks. 2 weeks to the apex + 2/3 weeks of the apex + 3/4 weeks scale down = 8 to 9 weeks. That brings us to June. |

Terrifying though the numbers are, it was nice to see such straight talking. |

And no name calling and unsubstantiated accusations. |

Cuomo: lied about having vents...not given out. Sitting in a warehouse in N.J. Could have purchased 15,000 Vents 2 years ago but spent the money on illegal aliens. Could have closed the city WAY before he did to prevent all the deaths. Sorry he is no better than anyone else. |

OUR LEADERS WERE TELLING THE TRUTH in January.. When yours was calling it "Fake news"thats the TRUTH. You need Mike Pence as your leader.... Much better than the current Orange faced Clown..... |

The newest models bring us to apex at the end of April instead of mid-April. So we're "closed" at least until mid-June. |

That's why it is so crucial we get an antibody test. This way it might not be a complete shut down. Those that carry antibodies can work. |

WitchMisspelled, I have admired Cuomo’s direct communication with the people of his state — and of the nation. I will admit to my complete ignorance of New York politics, but it looks (from the other side of the nation, at least) like he is truly getting things DONE — with forcefulness, when need be, and almost always with compassion for those who are suffering from this dread disease. I must admit that I wish HE were running for president in 2020! I was watching Dr. John Campbell’s most recent video this morning, and there is a nation — I think it’s Taiwan? — that has developed a blood test for the virus. He said that it looks a little like a pregnancy test — one line means you’re negative for the virus, two means you are positive. God willing, this will be quickly distributed throughout the world. I was shocked at New York’s numbers today. It’s horrific. Stay well, Witch — I can’t begin to imagine what it’s like to see this happening in the city you live in and love. |

I think it was Thailand. One stripe means you test positive for the virus and two stripes means you have developed antibodies. Apparently the test is very cheap and readily available. We need it worldwide. Then we need some kind of bracelet system to show that people are immune. Then life can start to return to normal. |

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesnโt accord with the facts.

Thanks BeachMama. This isn't the first time New Yorkers have dealt with traumatic crisis. The '93 bombings. 9/11 and Sandy made us a kinder city. We'll get through this too. So will other cities. NYC doesn't have the corner on the market of strength. We all just might need some anti-depressants before it's over!
