We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

We have been seeing not only depression but a lot of people in high places making notoriously bad decisions. An alternate viewpoint of this is that there is some kind of virus or disease which has become symbiotic in a large segment of the population. I have always been tracking viruses which effect the lungs, and then the new ones which effected the intestines and digestive tract. The final component, and one we traced in Nepal was a neurological component.

No doubt Zika, shrinker of young heads many perhaps cause nuero damage as well in older people infected.

Why are people depressed? Much of it is appropriate. It is one thing to have bad things happen in life. It is another to have a series of events which leave the common person feeling powerless to stop really bad situations in the world.

We have witnessed the near collapse of the family as we know it. We have seen a new order or evolution of traditional male-female roles in raising children, in the significance or value of the male and even their value in our society.

Those of us who are older can remember times when things were a whole lot better. And while so many wave so many flags of how they have improved society by liberating females and minorities, how has this liberation effected live in general as we know it?

Very few in alternate life styles I have seen are genuinely happy. The rate of suicide is 5x higher in these groups. Many oldsters have fled in music to the 80s, older country music, and even avoid music which is depreciating and degrading of women, lacking in much of the old romantic simplicity and replaced by households which do not simply have a father, mother, and children.

For me, this is depressing. There is no desire to hurt or deny anyone rights or opportunities, but if the X-generation was lost - the Z-generation - echo boomers - the Z generation - Post Millenneals - of which my son is one - born in from 1990s to present are perhaps the worst off.

Their role models, probably thinner than celluloid movies - in the vapor of cyberspace have taken diversity to the point of reverse discrimination where those not of color now in some places are in the minority and actually discriminated against.

No wonder the crazy Nazi mentality - which can be identified in ways with Trump who is anything but diverse inclined, is bordering on warfare and anarchy at the primaries.

Smug faced youtubers talk about the decline of religions, more agnostics, atheists, and places in the world where we have an undeclared genocide of Christians. Ignoring these acts of atrocity - crucify people because of their religion taking us back to before the Dark Ages in a savage world of beheadings, beating women, and an effort to take over the planet to all who will not convert.

Yes, the Christians and Jewish people have had their time in history of slaughtering men, women, and children, and even animals to take over countries or spread their doctrine. But that has stopped and while some would throw out the Geneva conventions rules for human warfare, we have sunk to new levels in torture and also invasion of privacy and even basic rights.

We don't need to be medicated when we are depressed because of the ways things are. We need to confront and do something, without violence, to change a world which really has gotten sick and twisted in some ways.

People need to get off drugs some of which are rampant in Washington D.C. as well as prostitution which is also common there.  Went to D.C. once for my company and got in an elevator and 5 women got in (I was married at the time) and one smiled and said "looking for a really good time?"

Throughout history we have seen what happens on the verge of collapse of a civilization. Look at Caligula  http://www.roman-empire.net/emperors/caligula-index.html

They have found in populations of rats put in a cage - which are very crowded that they start exhibiting much of the abnormal behavior we see promoted now in the media, the culture, and our civilization. These are warning signs of people that are so isolated and unaware of reality that the barbarians gather at the gates, for America - just outside our borders - to invade us.

Deprived of our weapons, left bare unable to defend ourselves, perhaps we are an easier flock of sheep to manage with lies and leadership oblivious to the needs of the people, and more concerned about staying in power and getting votes, than a nation on the verge of economic collapse and anarchy.

Not happy this morning. Nope, won't pour a drink, smoke "something", beat my kids or dogs or animals, commit a crime, or plan to off someone. Forget the anti-depressants, thought deadening prescription drugs, and dealing with the pure raw pain of living sometimes. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. Facing and dealing with the real world - and trying to find a way to make it better.

That which does not kill us - makes us stronger
