Hi all,

I saw somewhere that antibiotics for aquarium use, containing the same named compounds as those for humans, are simply repackaged and relabeled human-intended pills.

Does anyone know if this is definitvely true?

If true, they are available online from pet med places pretty cheaply.

God, I feel foolish posting this, but have you tried getting antibiotics from your doctor in advance of being sick? Nearly impossible. And if post-infection pneumonia is the main killer here, it would seem prudent to have amoxicillin and Zmax on hand.

From the information i have gathered over the past year, they are the same.  You might also try a feedstore....the pet stores no longer carry them because they were afraid people were using them.  Best order soon as some are already on backorder.

I ordered the gamut through Amazon--just go and type in "fish antibiotics".  Make sure you print up a good reference, or have the medical knowledge to safely use anitbiotics.  Tetracycline degrades over time, and can become toxic.  Antibiotics can kill you if not used properly.  How ironic to survive the bird flu and die from anaphylaxis.
