These strange earthquakes were predicted in the Bible

Matthew 24 King James Version (KJV)

24 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Jesus Christ died and was raised on the third day, the only "God" to overcome death.

We felt it here in st george ut. Shook the house enough to rattle dishes etc and make my babies bouncy bounce. I rushed them quickly outside. There is a quite massive fault just walking distance from here that cuts right through the city and volcanos all over the place.

http://dutchsinse.com/5232015-24-hours-of-major-earthquake-unrest-showing-globally-from-las-vegas-to-england/

The past 24-48 hours (up to 200am CDT May 23, 2015) has seen a serious uptick in earthquake unrest.

The unrest has spread to multiple locations including several rare areas which don’t normally see noteworthy movement, such as the M4.0 which just struck South England (along the English channel), or the 5.4 magnitude earthquake which struck near Las Vegas Nevada.

In addition to the rare movement in Nevada, and the UK, a large borderline 7.0M struck near Papua New Guinea, as well as additional movement across the PhilippinesSouth Japan, and thecoast of China.

This is a tremendous amount of activity to see in one 24 hour time period.

The areas which have seen movement need to be on watch for additional nearby activity, in the case of Nevada we should be watching the West coast for movement in the watch zones over the next 5-6 days.

After a 6.3 quake in the southern Mid-Atlantic Ridge http://dutchsinse.com/5242015-global-earthquake-unrest-continues-rare-6-3-magnitude-along-the-mid-atlantic-ridge/ I notice an increase in activity in the southern hemisphere. Were Dutchsinse thinks pressure is coming from the east (African plate due to quakes in Nepal, Fiji, Papua New Guinea) I wonder if there is increased pressure from the pacific-plate on South America (Chili saw an increase of quakes) resulting in increase of pressure (also) from the west in the South Atlantic. Increase from both sides proberbly...Chili has a bad history of strong quakes.

On the other side still lots of quakes in Asia http://dutchsinse.com/5232015-mount-hakone-in-japan-hasnt-erupted-in-over-800-years-ground-rising-steaming/ and Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Fiji-area.

I get the impression that the pacific-plate is "turning anti-clockwise" increasing pressure from the south on Alaska, increasing pressure from the pacific on Asia (Kamchatka, Japan, Taiwan/China, Phillipines, Indonesia) from the north on New Zealand-area and also from the pacific onthe Americas.

The timing of release of energy, pressure, is difficult to tell. But one quake could trigger a chain of reactions, domino-effect.

This paper is an update of a 1970 publication, “Major Earthquakes and Tsunamis in Chile” (Lomnitz, 1970), which appeared in the Geologische Rundschau, now International Journal of Earth Sciences. The reference has always been hard to find and in recent years has become almost impossible to locate. Additionally, the database was overdue for revision in light of more recent results.

The earlier conclusion of the paper, that “Chile emerges as perhaps the most highly seismic region in the world, with the possible exception of Japan”, still stands. One might add that Chilean earthquakes have provided data for important historical advances in the Earth sciences. For example, the 1835 earthquake in southern Chile was described by Darwin (1845) and has provided the earliest reliable observations of geodetic uplift along a subduction zone. The 1960 Chile earthquake (Mw 9.5), possibly the largest earthquake in world history, continues to provide invaluable data and challenges for research. Tectonic changes in the coastal morphology of Chile may well be unique (Lomnitz, 1969). As part of a 5,000-km subduction system and with a subduction rate of more than 7 cm/year, Chile is located atop one of the most highly active subduction zones in the world.

Available information on the history of earthquakes in Chile is limited. This is partly due to the nature of the terrain. The northern part of Chile is a desert, where rain falls about once every 25 years. The southern part is extremely rainy and is covered with a dense rain forest. Farther south along the coast one finds glaciers. The country is also wedged between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains. With the exception of a few scattered ports, most of the population lives in a narrow longitudinal valley between latitudes 32° and 45° south.

The strongest earthquake in the US (excluding Alaska) may have been the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1700_Cascadia_earthquake with a magnitude between 8.7 and 9.2, january 1700. For a list of US earthquakes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_earthquakes_and_tsunamis_in_the_United_States

The 1906 San Francisco quake http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1906_San_Francisco_earthquake had a magnitude of 7.9. The biggest danger for the US in earthquake-terms is more north, Washington/Pacific: Recent findings conclude that the Cascadia subduction zone is more complex and volatile than previously believed. In 2010 geologists predicted a 37 percent chance of an M8.2+ event within 50 years, and a 10 to 15 percent chance that the entire Cascadia subduction zone will rupture with an M9+ event within the same time frame.[7] Geologists have also determined the Pacific Northwest is not prepared for such a colossal quake. The tsunami produced could reach heights of 80 to 100 feet (24 to 30 m).[8]

Strongest Japan-quakes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_earthquakes_in_Japan

Simply looking at the list of Chili the number of M8+ is clear. The southern part of Chili is not much populated, the major danger global would be the tsunami that will be the result of that quake !

The US (ex Alaska) had 4 M8(+), Japan 21 M8(+), Chili had 27  M8(+) in the past. Alaska had 5 M8(+). See also this http://quakehunters.blogspot.nl/2014/04/magnitude-82-earthquake-north-of.html and http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S027737911300139X

When I look at the USGS-page since 1900 Chili had 10 M8<, Mexico  had 4, Alaska had 8 (different from wiki-list !), Japan 10, Indonesia 9, New Zealand-region 4, Papua New Guinea, Solomon-Islands, Samoa 11.

This does not mean that there is no earthquake risk for the US but looking at history the chance of such a quake being M8+ are small. Also increase of quakes/volcanic activity can be explainde both ways; build up of pressure or release of pressure. Dutchsinse in his info is giving a lot of attention to Japan volcano's but some of them have been on watch since 2012 !

Also there is not a realistic "norm" for the number of quakes, volcanic activity. There are statistics, but one might claim that sometimes there is an increase, other times decrease of that activity.

May 28 super-quake in California is not "science" but might be promotion for a movie being released ?

In 2010 may 1 till may 25 saw 11 M6, 2011 was 5, 2012 was 7 2013 was 13 2014 was 17 and 2015 was 14. So the increase is relative, US west coast phenomena are abnormal. But statistics can be misleading !

http://dutchsinse.com/5252015-deep-asthenosphere-earthquake-below-japan-china-border-watch-out-at-nepal-china-india-border/

The deep asthenosphere earthquake which struck near Japan before the Nepal earthquake was a 5.0M event….. the current deep earthquake is a 5.2M.   We may need to place the area to the West / Northwest of this new deep earthquake on alert for a shallow larger event in the near term.

This means a new alert should be issued now for the areas adjacent to the deep movement.  Please keep watch in Nepal going into China/Russia border regions for a possible larger earthquake.  I wouldn’t rule out North India either.

Next 3-5 days should tell the tale if this deep Japan earthquake causes movement to the West of it (India / Nepal / China / Russia region).

https://seismicenergy.wordpress.com/2014/04/19/the-place-of-dreams/

Epicenter Iquique

This earthquake is caused due to the interaction between the giant tectonic masses called Nazca and South American plate , which imperceptibly remain in an eternal dance in a titanic struggle . The Nazca plate is going beneath the South American one and this lustful symbiosis, gives origin to the vast and beautiful American continent.

The orography of our continent has been sculpted through this cyclopean pugilism , is important to remember that Nazca moves with a lightness of 6.5 mm / year, precisely against his antagonist , the South American plate does the same in the opposite direction with a lightness of 7.5 mm / year.

I have fought strongly against the term “seismic swarm” because it doesn’t describe the mechanism of the fault rupture. To determine that we are facing a premonitory earthquake, there must be a coordinated and related hypocenters, the analysis should conclude that there is a spatial and temporary correlation. If this corelation exists , we can infere that the tremors could be premonitors .

On April 16, there was an earthquake of Mag. 6.7, escorted by 60 earthquakes greater than Mag. 4 and 25 earthquakes grater than Mag 5 .  Then, on 17th , then 22nd , then 23rd, there were earthquakes higher than Mag 6.2, each of these days.  According to the information provided by the USGS, the hypocenters migrated to the north, and coincidentally the strongest earthquake of April 1st, was the northernmost too . After the big earthquake, the region continues moving, there was  a  Mag 7.6 earthquake on the 3rd of April.

From Dutchsinse on Facebook:

A dramatic silencing off of earthquakes has occurred in a short amount of time (past 24 hours).

Forecast expires early on the 28th.. just a few more hours left in the forecast from the 21st.

Scroll down on my wall for a recap of events this past week ... out of the 12 areas named, again.. 9 areas were hit.

3 same areas did NOT move ... same goes for the previous forecast.

Thus.. Vancouver BC, Philippines/Taiwan, and Mexico.. still silent... to me, this is not a "good" thing.. since there should be some movement at these locations.. instead NOTHING.

Rather, the areas adjacent to each area which did NOT move all showed excessive activity. For instance, the whole of the West coast moved between both watch points with multiple 4.0M+ earthquakes at SEVERAL dormant volcanoes.

I was watching Baja California (South California ) for a near 6.0M event.. instead Las Vegas (South Nevada) was hit by a 5.4m and multiple events at a dormant volcano.

Just one state over from the expected area, we saw the expected movement (5.4M). Somewhat of a hit on the forecast zone, but still no movement near Mexico city like expected.

A new eruption in Central / South America at the Galapagos, and an noteworthy earthquake struck at San Pedro volcano in Chile.. now reports of a possible eruption coming in Chile... just as expected.

We are still watching Nepal for possible large movement for an additional 2 days beyond today (due to the deep Japan earthquake from 2 days ago).

Overall, the movement this past week was very noteworthy.. 4.0M in England... 4.7M in Kansas... 5.4M in Nevada... multiple 6.8M in Papua New Guinea.. noteworthy earthquake in South Japan (downtown Tokyo).. major activity at mount Hakone near Tokyo, several 4.0M up the West coast of California/Oregon .. several earthquakes at dormant volcanoes in the United States... several East coast earthquakes in Quebec, Maine, and New Hampshire... earthquakes in Turkey near the Caspian Sea... mid-atlantic ridge movement South of the Canary Islands (6.3M + swarm), and a swarm of events in South Europe / Greece (multiple 4.0M to 5.0M ).

Again, no movement at all near Vancouver, North Philippines, or near Mexico City.... still a few hours left before the full 7 days is up.

Will have a new forecast and recap of the past week video out by tomorrow AM.

In my opinion Dutchsinse has credibility, he admits that his expectations are sometimes not correct. I did not study his predictions in every detail but what he is claiming in my opinion is just as correct as weatherforcasts. And for earthquekes and volcanic activity that is very good.

On the other hand you have to ask what is a "normal pattern" of earthquakes. On https://seismicenergy.wordpress.com/2014/04/30/the-seismic-behavior-of-the-planet-in-april/ a blogger from Chili evaluates April 2015 and Chili had an 8+ earthquake. When I want to warn people for "strong earthquake" what do I mean (and how long should that warning stand, have a use) ?

My warning is based on several facts; eventhough Dutchsinse forecasts started it later developments convinced me he may have a point. "Reality-check" has to be a basic thing when you give a warning (for earthquakes, pandemics etc.) Commercial interests, the release of a movie, that profit from some "hysteria" over earthquakes can encourage people to come up with less realistic stories.

Again, looking at historical facts and geological information Chili and Japan run the major mega-earthquake risk. Alaska and maybe even Turkey/Greece Indonesia/Philipines and New Zealand run more risk that the "home of western movie culture"California. For the US the 1700 megaquake was for the coast of Washington/Oregon. The 1906 San Francisco quake was a 7.8 and the fire that came after the quake might have been the major disaster. The 1989 quake had a magnitude of 6.9.

http://fukushima-diary.com/2015/05/meteorological-agency-to-implement-terrestrial-magnetism-observation-for-underground-temperature-of-mt-hakone/

Following up this article.. Expansion accelerated in Mt. Hakone / Ground uplifted 8cm in recent 9 days [URL]

On 5/26/2015, Meteorological Research Institute announced they are going to observe the underground temperature of Mt. Hakone.

From 5/27/2015, they are going to implement terrestrial magnetism observation at 3 points around the north of the crater. The observation will be repeated every 2 weeks.

The research institute states the stones and rocks lose magnetism when the temperature goes over 300 〜 400℃ so they may be able to know the temperature increase by observing terrestrial magnetism.

Hot Springs Research Institute of Kanagawa Prefecture is going to collaborate with the research institute.

Yamasato, the manager of volcanic research department commented the diastrophism is assumed to be occurring in the shallow area. It is needed to observe the change in temperature.

From facebook Dutchsinse:https://www.facebook.com/DutchsinseOfficial

Past 24 hours of earthquake activity shows that the WHOLE of the West Pacific has moved on at least a 4.0M level ...

The rapid silencing off is now being followed by plate movement across a vast area all at near the same depth along the edge of the Pacific plate.

These multiple 4.0M+ earthquakes possibly indicate near term larger movement coming in the region.

Seeing these all pop off after a bit of silence, all at near the same depth.. means things are now on the move again.

As many of you may have heard, there was some kind of prediction made by a guy for a large earthquake TODAY at 4pm... I'll take that warning with a grain of salt, but it is worth watching today and tomorrow for some kind of noteworthy movement due to this new widespread "adjustment' we see taking place.

The movement at a shallow depth should be no surprise after the cluster of deep events which occurred 2-3 days ago.

If you look at this graphic showing the 4.0M+ earthquakes over the past 24 hours (up to May 28, 2015 - 700am CDT), you can see the evenly spaced earthquakes spanning the whole of the West Pacific. In the past, when we see something like this.. it results in a larger earthquake in the silent area between the multiple events.

Things are getting complicated... swarms, then silence.. now a whole region moves over a short time... any force capable of moving a region this size is a force which will cause GREATER movement when the smaller movement cannot handle the pressure coming from below.

The pressure is certainly coming from below as revealed by the deep earthquakes which precede these larger, and widespread earthquakes which are occurring at a much shallower level.

5/29/2015 — 5.1M EARTHQUAKE STRIKES NORTH CALIFORNIA NEAR MOUNT SHASTA VOLCANO — DIRECTLY AT TRINITY LAKE DAM

Only problem USGS did not mention it, ESMC withdrew the information.

The Northern California earthquake directly followed an even larger 6.8M which struck just minutes before off the coast of Alaska.

The Alaska earthquake was just a few hours after a large unexpected volcanic blast from a volcano in South Japan.  The Japan blast, the Alaska earthquake, and this California earthquake all occurred within less than 12 hours time.

http://www.adn.com/article/20150529/magnitude-67-quake-strikes-remote-area-alaska-peninsula

A strong earthquake has struck in a remote region off the Alaska coast, but officials say there is no tsunami threat or immediate reports of damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-6.7 quake struck at 11 p.m. Thursday and was centered in the ocean about 35 miles beneath the seabed and some 400 miles southwest of Anchorage. It hit a remote and lightly populated Aleutian Island region.

Officials say the temblor was felt on the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island, more than 100 miles away.

The police dispatch office in Kodiak says the quake was felt at the station, but it received no reports of damage.

The National Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami danger.

The USGS says there have been five aftershocks of magnitude-3.0 or greater.

Eventhough on Iceland all volcano's have code green http://en.vedur.is/earthquakes-and-volcanism/volcanic-eruptions/ increase in earthquakes http://en.vedur.is/earthquakes-and-volcanism/earthquakes is by definition volcanic on Iceland.

Also the 6.7 quake in Alaska was volcano-related. Further volcanic activity in Turkey, Chili, California/Mexico border, Japan, Indonesia....

Over the past week, multiple dormant volcanoes showed movement across the West coast in California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington state, as well as earthquakes in South America (Chile) near San Pedro Volcano.

A 5.4M (4.8M revised) struck a dormant volcanic butte near Las Vegas Nevada, and this morning a 6.8M struck the shores of Alaska.

THREE different 6.8M + 6.9M earthquakes struck in Papua New Guinea.

A 4.0M + 3.0M earthquake struck England, and a swarm has struck Turkey in Europe.

_______

Going forward, the areas named in the video are explained fully. We need to watch for the next 7 days in just a few spots globally. Named out Oregon, and Washington state (instead of Vancouver BC)... however don't rule out the Island of Vancouver itself for possible larger movement. The fact that Vancouver has NOT been hit in the past several weeks means the areas just South should move soon.

Keep watch in North California, Oregon, Washington State for possible noteworthy earthquake activity above 5.0M over the next 7 days.

Look near Sumatra / Indonesia for possible large movement above the upper 6.0M range (possibly even larger) over the next 7 days.

Japan should show much larger earthquake activity over the next 7 days, and possibly more news on sudden blasts at not well know volcanoes (Mount Hakone near Tokyo being one possibility that stands out).

Central West Pacific should now watch for large movement near Vanuatu / Fiji / Tonga in the upper 6.0M to possible 7.0M range over the next 7 days.

India should watch South of the previous Nepal epicenter, possibly as far North as the China border. Don't rule out Nepal, but it looks more like India needs to be on watch for a possible event above 6.0M (less than 7.0M) event over the next 7 days.

Further west, still keep watch in Turkey (carrying over from last week) in light of the new swarm of earthquakes that has finally developed in the area we were watching. This could lead to a noteworthy earthquake after a long period of silence. It could be in the 6.0M range, but I don't know if the swarm will take away some of the pressure, thus making it a 5.0M event. The other possibility is that the swarm is a precursor to a LARGER than 6.0M event (hope not!). Keep watch in Turkey into Greece regardless.

Europe, two areas to watch in particular over the next 7 days for movement in the upper 3.0M to lower 4.0M range... North Belgium into Netherlands, possibly as far West as the shored of North France (Normany / English channel).

United States (other than West Coast), next 7 days craton edge WILL move , and it will be noticeable. Fracking operation in Colorado should show back up in the 3.0M+ range, and the Texas operations should really start moving now that the flooding has occurred. Oklahoma, and Kansas should BOTH see greater than 4.0M+ activity. East coast should see movement follow the midwest 4.0M's which should hit over the next few days. The movement on the East coast should either be swarms of small events across multiple states (like we saw this past week), or possibly one single larger event in the Mid-Atlantic states (3.0M )?

South California, Los Angeles should see multiple new events at the fracking operations in the Downtown area North to Coalinga, CA.

New Madrid seismic Zone back in the picture (I live in Missouri, so this effects me personally).. keep watch for possible 3.0M+ or even a low 4.0M event. The chances are fairly low that anything will hit, but still keep watch, the zone is primed for movement along the Missouri , Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio region.

Central America, next 7 days watch NORTH of Mexico city near the US border with Texas / Arizona (on the Mexico side) for possible 4.0M+ activity (this includes Baja California to San Diego). Watch South of Mexico for a possible new eruption to hit , seems eruptions are hitting as opposed to large earthquakes recently. Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua -- keep watch for new eruptions (or a large earthquake in the 6.0M range if an eruption doesn't hit -- however I'm more expecting an eruption based upon past recent activity).

South America, Argentina through Boliva to the Peru border. Chile is set to show movement again via a volcanic eruption, since we just saw multiple 5.0M strike near San Pedro volcano, we should watch in this region for a new possible eruption.
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

At may 24 I did search more information on the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleutian_Islands. The 6.9 quake in that region is not realy a surprise. Chili and Iceland were other focus-points-both with volcano-earthquake history. Today I take a look at Antarctica's volcano's; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Erebus. The most southern part of the "ring of fire" also has seen several m4 and m5 events last week. http://earthquaketrack.com/r/pacific-antarctic-ridge/recent Elsewere that translated in volcanic action. In Antarctica you also, especialy during winter, might expect "ice-quakes". http://www.news.gatech.edu/2014/08/11/2010-chilean-earthquake-causes-icequakes-antarctica

Volcanic activity is monitored http://erebus.nmt.edu/. Mt Erebus (wikipedia)Mount Erebus is currently the most active volcano in Antarctica and is the current eruptive zone of the Erebus hotspot. The summit contains a persistent convecting phonolitic lava lake, one of five long-lasting lava lakes on Earth. Characteristic eruptive activity consists of Strombolian eruptions from the lava lake or from one of several subsidiary vents, all within the volcano's inner crater.[5][6] The volcano is scientifically remarkable in that its relatively low-level and unusually persistent eruptive activity enables long-term volcanological study of a Strombolian eruptive system very close (hundreds of metres) to the active vents, a characteristic shared with only a few volcanos on Earth, such as Stromboli in Italy. Scientific study of the volcano is also facilitated by their proximity to McMurdo Station (U.S.) and Scott Base (N.Z.), both sited on Ross Island approximately thirty-five kilometres away.  and http://www.volcanodiscovery.com/erebus.html">http://www.volcanodiscovery.com/erebus.html

Volcano explodes off Kyushu, forcing small island to evacuate

KYODO, STAFF REPORT

A volcano exploded Friday morning on sparsely populated Kuchinoerabu Island, sending smoke and ash soaring into the sky above Kagoshima Prefecture and residents fleeing to the safety of nearby Yakushima Island.

The 9:59 a.m. eruption of 626-meter Mount Shindake, the island’s main peak, produced a plume over 9 km high and a pyroclastic flow that reached the shoreline, the Meteorological Agency said.

There was no warning.

“I heard a loud boom and when I looked at the mountains, I saw a gigantic plume rising above,” said a 64-year-old innkeeper who was in her garden at the time.

“I thought I’d be dead if I got caught in the cloud,” she said explaining why she ran to the shelter without any belongings. “There was an eruption last year, but this time the sound was really loud.”

All 137 of Kuchinoerabu’s residents were confirmed safe, including a 72-year-old man who received a forehead burn but was able to walk unaided, the Fire and Disaster Management Agency and local authorities said.

All had been evacuated by ferry, coast guard ship and helicopter to neighboring Yakushima Island by Friday evening, the Yakushima town office said.

Both islands are about 100 km south of Kyushu, but Yakushima is usually reachable only by two ferry routes.

“I have instructed the relevant personnel to do all they can to ensure the safety of the islanders,” Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters.

The prime minister’s office set up a response team at its crisis management center,  while the Japan Coast Guard dispatched a large patrol ship to the area.

While no lava streams had been spotted as of Friday evening, a weather agency official warned of the risk of a second eruption and more pyroclastic flows, noting that none had reached the more populous Maeda district.

Situated some 100 km off the southern tip of Kyushu, Kuchinoerabu has only about 100 full-time residents. Some believed to have been present at the time were short-term visitors. The prefectural government said 141 people in all, from 78 families, were ordered to evacuate.

The evacuation started after the weather agency raised its alert for the island to 5 — the highest level — from 3, which imposed limits on climbing the volcano.

Friday’s eruption, which unleashed a large ash cloud, created a panic as residents fled with only the barest necessities.

Yukina Masuda who managed to evacuate to a shelter near the top of another peak, Banyagamine, said the eruption was much bigger than last year’s.

“It looks like all of the island’s residents are crammed into this shelter,” she said.

Hiroshi Watanabe, 61, who manages a campsite on adjacent Yakushima, said he learned of the eruption via the local wireless system.

He said the gray fumes released by the volcano soon started spreading and streaming out volcanic ash that reached Yakushima.

“I’m worried about my friend who is a member of a volunteer fire corps on Kuchinoerabu Island,” he said.

Until Friday, the volcano’s most recent eruption had been on Aug. 3 last year. That eruption prompted 87 people, including some individuals visiting on business, to leave the following day.

Experts had recorded unusual activity for about a decade leading up to last year’s eruption, and the latest blast could be a relatively large, prolonged one, said associate professor Ryusuke Imura of Kagoshima University.

Meanwhile, the eruption on Sept. 27 last year of Mount Ontake became Japan’s worst postwar volcanic disaster, claiming dozens of lives near the summit. Fifty-seven people were confirmed dead, but six remain missing, presumed buried under ash and rock.

The hot-spring district of Mount Hakone near Tokyo has risen by up to 15 cm in two weeks this month as sulfurous steam gushes from vents in the mountain’s flank.

Mount Sakurajima, close to Kagoshima, erupted explosively in August 2013, unleashing a plume that was 5 km high. The same mountain had 178 small eruptions in March alone and produced one last week that created a plume 4.3 km high.

Nobuo Geshi of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology claims Friday’s eruption is the same type as the one seen at Sakurajima but much larger.

Geshi, who heads a group of scientists conducting research on massive eruptions, said it is very similar to the one the island experienced in 1966.

He said it can also be regarded as part of the volcanic activity that continued after the eruption last August.

Geshi pointed out that none of the past cases was a one-off eruption, suggesting the activity may continue for a while.

Kuchinoerabu, located in an area south of Kyushu with a large concentration of active volcanoes, has experienced numerous bouts of volcanic activity since Shindake’s colossal eruption in 1841, which scorched nearby villages and killed many residents.

According to the Meteorological Agency, in 1931 Shindake exploded on its western margin, causing landslides that killed two residents, animals and damaged farms and fields.

Several eruptions between December 1933 and January 1934 burned down a whole village. Eight people were killed and 26 were injured.

Shindake’s volcanic activities continued in the 1960s, resulting in another massive eruption in November 1966 that hurt three people and caused shock waves and pyroclastic flows that hit Kagoshima and Tanegashima Island, one of the Osumi Islands.

The mountain also experienced a small phreatic eruption in September 1980.

Since the 2000s, a large increase in volcanic quakes and tremors has been reported. An expansion at its crater and white fumes were detected in 2008, but one of its most recent eruptions, on Aug. 3, 2014, sent fumes higher than 800 meters.

M8.5 quake rocks Ogasawara Islands, jolting Tokyo and wider Kanto

KYODO, STAFF REPORT

A magnitude-8.5 earthquake struck off the Ogasawara Islands south of Tokyo on Saturday evening, jolting wide parts of the Kanto region and causing moderate tremors in many parts of the archipelago, the Meteorological Agency said.

No tsunami warning was issued by the agency, and no serious injuries or major damage were immediately reported in the Ogasawara chain by local authorities.

In Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, a woman in her 70s sustained a minor injury when dishes fell on top of her head at home. In Minato Ward, Tokyo, a building elevator stopped suddenly, trapping people inside.

The quake, which measured upper-5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7, occurred at 8:24 p.m. at a depth of 590 km below the seabed west of the Ogasawara chain, the agency said. Given the depth of the epicenter, slow lateral vibrations continued for about a minute.

The Otemachi district in central Tokyo registered an intensity of 4 on the Japanese scale, and many areas in neighboring Kanagawa Prefecture were rocked more violently, according to data released by the agency. The town of Ninomiya, facing Sagami Bay, registered upper-5.

On Chichijima Island in the Ogasawara chain, communities experienced powerful jolts. NHK quoted Yoshiyuki Sasamoto, who runs a local inn, as saying things started to fall from shelves as the tremors continued.

Following the quake, the government quickly set up an emergency task force at the prime minister’s office to assess the situation.

Tokyo Electric Power Co. said no damage had been reported at its Fukushima No. 1 and No. 2 nuclear power stations.

But a power outage briefly affected a combined 600 households in Adachi Ward, Tokyo, and the city of Fujimino, Saitama Prefecture, Tepco reported.

Central Japan Railway Co. and East Japan Railway Co. suspended operations on the Tokaido Shinkansen Line.

In Tokyo, the Yamanote Line and other rail routes were halted for safety checks. NHK footage showed many people stranded at major hub stations, including Shibuya, Shinjuku and Ikebukuro.

“The number of quakes seems to be rising these days, and I’m worried,” said a 34-year-old office worker stuck at Tokyo Station.

A college student who gave up waiting in a long line at a bus stop outside Shibuya Station said he had no choice but to spend the night at a friend’s apartment.

The Tokaido shinkansen and some other lines later resumed operation after safety was confirmed.

Haneda airport in Tokyo temporarily closed its runways for safety checks but resumed services within an hour.

5/30/2015 — SHALLOW 6.4M EARTHQUAKE FOLLOWS DEEP JAPAN 8.5M (7.8 MAGNITUDE) — NORTH OF PREVIOUS EVENT

A shallow 6.4 magnitude earthquake has struck the Eastern coast of Japan, approximately 250 miles Northeast of the previous 8.5M (7.8 magnitude revised) earthquake which occurred earlier today .

We were expecting to see SHALLOW follow up movement strike in an adjacent area from the large deep earthquake this morning due to the fact that the deep earthquakes are proved to cause shallow earthquakes elsewhere nearby.

Just as expected, the area nearby moved at a shallow depth within hours of the deep earthquake.  I expect additional shallow larger movement to occur over this coming week, no doubt this 6.4M is just the first compensation movement we’re seeing.

I think Dutchsinse is good in his prediction on earthquakes (although "science"claims that he has to be even more exact) http://dutchsinse.com/5302015-english-channel-earthquake-forecast-to-occur-a-full-day-before/

A rare earthquake struck AGAIN in the English channel, along the shores of North France.

Speaking of rare England earthquakes, on May 11th I issued an earthquake forecast, which called for a 4.0M to strike England within about a week.

On May 21nd (week and a half after the forecast was issued) England was struck by a VERY RARE 4.0M earthquake in the exact area warned, within the magnitude named.

Worthy to note:  We are just on Day 1 of the current 7 day earthquake forecast

The forecast issued on May 29th called for a very large earthquake to strike Japan, and on May 30th, Japan was hit with a 7.8M (8.5M revised) earthquake.  Struck in the area warned, with the expected large earthquake above 7.0M .

The forecast issued on May 29th, also called for 3.0M – 4.0M earthquake activity to strike South Illinois, and on May 30th, South Illinois was hit with a very rare 3.4M earthquake.  Struck in the area warned with a very rare earthquake , within the magnitude named.

The forecast issued on May 29th,  also called for 3.0M – 4.0M earthquake activity to strike Kansas, and on May 30th Kansas was hit by a 3.1M fracking earthquake.  Struck in the area warned with a rare earthquake, within the magnitude named.

Four quakes he expected the day before became reality. And that is very good when you think of saving lives and damage-controll !

May 30, 2015 - A very large 8.5 magnitude (7.8M revised) earthquake struck the Bonin Island region of Southeast Japan.

Full website post here: http://dutchsinse.com/5302015-very-la...

Worthy to note the depth of the earthquake was over 400 miles... thus no tsunami warnings were issued. The earthquake was located deep in the Asthenosphere, which means we need to watch for shallow LARGER movement in a nearby adjacent area in the next few days.
_______

This movement WAS EXPECTED TO OCCUR. A full warning and forecast was issued for Japan a day before this occurred, warning for large movement to come in the South Japan region in the near term.

See the forecast for Japan here issued May 29, 2015:

Since this quake (M8.5 or 7.8 ???? that is a difference, if the seismologists keep downgrading and denying major quakes how proffesional are they ?) was a very deep one : (Dutchsinse on FB)

It should cause a shallow larger earthquake in an adjacent area if the deep earthquake activity holds true in this large earthquakes case. This is the deepest earthquake I've ever seen, and the LARGEST deepest earthquake I've ever seen... thus .. will it cause a shallow larger earthquake?????? If it is larger than the 8.5M *7.8M then it would be in the 9.0M range in a nearby area this week or so.

5/31/2015 — SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 4.1M EARTHQUAKE AT SALTON SEA VOLCANO — UNREST SHOWING

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake has struck Southern California atSalton Sea Volcanic buttes.

Reports are coming in from viewers that this event was felt fairly strong in San Diego, CA.

Seeing a noteworthy earthquake strike near an active volcano in Southern California is a sign of the greater global seismic unrest currently underway.

It would be wise at this point (in light of the other recent Pacific earthquake activity) for the people of the West coast to at least be placed on a “watch” for possible larger movement.

Even if nothing actually ends up hitting, it is better to do what the Japanese are doing right now, which is warn the population of the possibility of a larger coming earthquake.

Certainly now we can all be on the same page that there IS a temporary increase in activity taking place in multiple locations globally, thus warnings should be issued for a general watch for normally earthquake prone areas, and give instructions to have a plan.

Keep in mind that this 4.1M earthquake struck at a location where “professionals” are concerned about a potential eruption — Salton Sea Volcano could erupt if earthquake / seismic conditions are right (their words not mine).  The volcano was elevated to “active” status in 2011 based upon some kind of internal USGS technicality.

http://dutchsinse.com/6012015-large-5-8-magnitude-earthquake-strikes-west-coast-united-state-oregon-forecast-to-occur-2-days-prior/

A noteworthy magnitude 5.8 earthquake has struck off the shores of Oregon along the West coast of the United States.

This earthquake was forecast to occur this week, forecast issued 2 days ago.

(Dutch Josh)Also noteworthy the larger quakes in Alaska/Bering Sea from 6.7 may 29 to 7 quakes 4.5(+) this week. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us20002kua#general_summary

The Oregon-quake http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us20002kxa#general_summary of course there the large 1700 Cascadia-earthquake M8.7/9.2 was in that area. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1700_Cascadia_earthquake

FluMom, the way I see it biggest danger at present comes from Japan. If Dutchsinse is correct and the M7.8/8.5  600 km deep http://fukushima-diary.com/2015/05/the-epicenter-of-530-quake-was-deep-as-lower-mantle-of-the-earth-deepest-for-m8-class-quakes-since-1900/ earthquake will translate in a larger more shallow quake in the short term that does mean big radio-active trouble !

http://www.wyden.senate.gov/news/press-releases/after-tour-of-fukushima-nuclear-power-station-wyden-says-situation-worse-than-reported storage of spent fuel rods next to the ocean in unsound structures is asking for problems.

For the US the biggest dangers might be on the coast of Oregon, there was a major earthquake (M8.7/9.2) in 1700 and those quakes reappear everey 300-700 years.

I am not an expert, even experts do not have many answers. Tsunami's can do a lot of damage, but not in Denver ! A major earthquake in California would effect internet very serious. A major earthquake in the US, Japan has very serious economic consequences.

For what it is worth, Yellowstone might always be "grumbling"but almost never "bites". I do not agree with Dutchsinse that deep earthquakes always translates to stronger more shallow earthquakes. On the other hand many earthquakes are "overdue". One earthquake could trigger more quakes.

Today's Oregon earthquakes http://dutchsinse.com/6012015-large-5-8-magnitude-earthquake-strikes-west-coast-united-state-oregon-forecast-to-occur-2-days-prior/ are related to the recent volcanic eruption for the coast of Oregon http://dutchsinse.com/4302015-volcanic-eruption-off-west-coast-united-states-oregon-undersea-volcano-now-erupting/ (Dutch Josh: and that volcanic activity might be possibly at a deep level be linked to Yellowstone. If Yellowstone would erupt that eruption could find an "outlet"via the undersea volcano for the Oregon-pacific coast. Maybe the release of pressure there is a good tingh, decreases the chances for a major earthquake or eruption ? Or is it the prelude for something larger ?)

Also a very strange (volcanic link ?) earthquake m5.2 at the North Pole ! http://dutchsinse.com/6012015-north-pole-earthquake-5-2-magnitude-strikes-near-new-undersea-volcano/ and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cssixg1TxIg  and http://www.ceme.gsras.ru/cgi-bin/ceme/equakes.pl?l=1 (Dutch Josh: So far no major earthquake for Japan after several deep quakes the previous days !)

Today also a 4.3(ESMC) 4.7 (Geonet) for the South Island of New Zealand http://www.geonet.org.nz/quakes/region/newzealand/2015p409380 and a 3.2 in th British Channel .

A comment  on todays North Pole Earthquake; (from gaiayoyo on the youtube-video from Dutchsinse on this Polar-quake) There was a 4.8 at 10 deep March 4 2011 before the Japan quake on March 11 2011. Didn't you say in a recent vid the only thing in the set up we were missing was a north pole quake to look like 2011?

I hope that this time there will be no major earthquake for Japan. That would be a very big (nuclear, economic, enviromental) disaster !!!!
