Found an article here about Trump's criticism of Obama's handling of the Ebola outbreak.

Here's a few of his tweets:

Ebola patient will be brought to the U.S. in a few days - now I know for sure that our leaders are incompetent. KEEP THEM OUT OF HERE! (August 1, 2014)

The U.S. must immediately stop all flights from EBOLA infected countries or the plague will start and spread inside our "borders." Act fast! (August 2, 2014)

I am starting to think that there is something seriously wrong with President Obama's mental health. Why won't he stop the flights. Psycho! (October 16, 2014)

A single Ebola carrier infects 2 others at a minimum. STOP THE FLIGHTS! NO VISAS FROM EBOLA STRICKEN COUNTRIES! (Nov 10, 2014)

To be fair to Trump the Ebola virus did have a much higher death rate, but he sure seems to have a short memory.

Hmm..... Been listening. Not so much 'foot in mouth' as brain in a$$.

Don't worry, we are amazing, we are brilliant our systems are brilliant our experts are the best, we have very few cases (of course we don't test many) but our cases are very few and most are recovering well, except for those who aren't.

Pence being put in charge. doing lots of travelling to talk to governors about this.

I can't go on. I'm going to laugh, cry or vomit - not sure which yet.

There is a task force, so all is not lost.

Trump keeps his coronavirus news conference focused on one high-risk patient: Himself

Midway through his news conference on coronavirus Wednesday night, President Trump criticized Democrats for questioning his and his administration’s response to the coronavirus.

Of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Trump said, “I think she’s not thinking about the country."

But after the display we just saw, you could sure be forgiven for thinking Trump had politics on the brain, first and foremost.

From the start of the news conference, Trump repeatedly sought to pat himself and his administration on the back, even as the scope and severity of the disease worldwide and in the United States is still coming into focus.

“We really think we’ve done a great job in keeping it down to a minimum,” Trump said. “And again, we’ve had tremendous success — tremendous success, beyond what people would have thought.”

great. Other countries have not been doing great."

And: “So far, we’ve done a great job.”

When he was asked why the stock market has plunged 2,000 points in recent days, Trump acknowledged part of the reason was coronavirus fears. But he also blamed the Federal Reserve, Boeing, General Motors, and he said he thought the markets were suddenly worried about one of his potential 2020 Democratic opponents beating him for reelection — despite that campaign having been going for more than a year.

He added: “I think after I win the reelection, the stock market’s going to boom like it’s never boomed — just like it did, by the way, after I won the last election."

Perhaps most strikingly, Trump brought up the annual death toll for seasonal influenza in the United States, which is generally between 25,000 and 69,000 people. It wasn’t clear why he brought it up, but it seemed possible he was trying to downplay whatever might come of the coronavirus spread in the United States.

Trump also picked a particularly notable political battle, targeting Democrats such as Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.) who said the administration should have asked for more money than the $2.5 billion to deal with coronavirus. Trump suggested that was meant to “demean” his administration. He said this even though some Republicans, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), have made similar suggestions.

“That’s okay; we’ll take more money,” Trump said. “But they shouldn’t demean the people that are on the stage who are the finest in the world. They’re not demeaning me. They’re demeaning the greatest health-care professionals in the world and people that do exactly what we’re talking about.”

By that point, however, it was difficult to believe he wasn’t taking it personally.

Really that is what you got out of he was taking it personally, what I would take everything personally too especially with the main stream media, Shumer, Pelosi, and every liberal after my A$$ 24/7. Obama never had to deal with this because conservatives have a love of country and pull together no matter if we disagree with who the other side elected.

You posting this proves how much you HATE it is not nice.

You’ve probably read about the outbreak. But you may not know how badly prepared the United States is to counter a pandemic, as a result of bipartisan neglect of our public health infrastructure. The highlights: In 2012, the Obama administration reallocated billions of dollars away from the Prevention and Public Health Fund to make up for cuts to Medicare’s physician payments. In 2018, Congress cut the PPHF by another $1 billion, and the Trump administration then diverted additional millions away from the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In response, the CDC cut its global epidemic prevention efforts by 80 percent, radically downsizing its operations in 39 of the 49 countries it had a presence in, including China and Congo, currently the epicenter of Ebola. Last year, Trump proposed slashing the DHS budget by another 12 percent and the CDC budget by 10 percent.

The result of this dangerous downsizing: As the world stands on the verge of a new epidemic, the United States has 50,000 fewer local public-health employees than it did in 2008. Instead of stopping an outbreak early, America’s now reduced to taking the temperature of travelers at major airports.

You've skipped over that this Administration saw fit to terminate the entire Pandemic Response chain of command. All experts in their field.

Alex Azar..how does it feel being thrown under the bus? Ouch!

Who’s in charge of the Trump administration’s coronavirus response? During the White House press briefing Wednesday night, it was difficult to tell.

President Donald Trump had announced minutes into the press briefing that Vice President Mike Pence would lead the administration’s response to the outbreak. “I’m going to be announcing exactly right now” that Pence would lead the administration on the matter, Trump said. “Mike will report back to me.”

That “blindsided” the man who had been leading the government’s response, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, The Washington Post reported Wednesday citing five unnamed people familiar with the situation. Politico reported, citing four unnamed people familiar with the matter, that Pence’s appointment was a “shock” to Azar and his team.

“That doesn’t speak well to a joined-up process,” Joshua Busby, an associate professor of public affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, told TPM.

Azar chairs the White House task force on coronavirus, which was announced in late January. But Pence is expected to lead the task force’s meeting Thursday, the Post and Politico reported. At a congressional hearing Thursday morning, Azar described himself as “chairman of the President’s coronavirus task force and working in conjunction with the administration’s lead for the virus, Vice President Pence.”

Wednesday night, after the President had stopped taking questions on his administration’s approach to the outbreak — clashing with public health officials but acknowledging the White House would spend more than initially planned to fight the virus — the health secretary appeared to be digesting the news in real time.

“Mr. President, do you still have confidence in Sec. Azar, given the Pence move?” a reporter asked the President. Azar’s eyebrows arched dramatically.

“I have great confidence,” Trump said before Azar interjected.

“If I could just clarify, I think you’re not getting the point here of this. I’m still chairman of the task force,” he said. Pence’s involvement, Azar said, “gives me the biggest stick one could have in the government on this whole-of-government approach.”

“When the President — when this was mentioned to me, I was delighted that I get to have the vice president helping in this way,” Azar said, as Trump slipped out the door to the briefing room.

Pence himself is an “imperfect messenger” for an outbreak response, Busby noted. The worst HIV outbreak in Indiana history occurred in 2015 under Pence’s governorship.

HHS Chief Azar Refuses to Vow Coronavirus Vaccine Will Be Affordable for All, Not Just the Rich

"This is what happens when you put a Big Pharma CEO who doubled the price of insulin in charge of regulating Big Pharma."

Members of Congress and advocacy groups are voicing outrage after Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar—a former pharmaceutical executive—repeatedly refused during House testimony Wednesday to guarantee that any coronavirus vaccine or treatment developed with taxpayer money will be affordable for all in the U.S., not just the rich.

"Under the Trump doctrine, if you are wealthy you can buy a vaccine and not succumb to the sickness," Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a Democratic presidential candidate, said in a statement. "If you are poor or working class, you may have to get sick or even die. That is an outrage. That is unacceptable. We need a vaccine that is available to all."

"He's giving Big Pharma a blank check to monopolize them instead."
—Rep. Jan Schakowsky

During testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee Wednesday, Azar was pressed multiple times to vow that vaccines and treatments for the coronavirus will be priced fairly and made affordable for all U.S. households.

"We would want to ensure that we'd work to make it affordable," Azar told Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), "but we can't control that price because we need the private sector to invest."

< id="twitter-widget-0" scrolling="no" border="0" allowtransparency="true" allowfullscreen="true" ="twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered" -tweet-id="1232789512490799104" title="Twitter Tweet" style="text-align: start; -sizing: inherit; : static; visibility: ; display: block; width: 500px; height: 482.40625px; padding: 0px; border-style: none; max-width: 100%; min-width: 220px; margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;">

Schakowsky tweeted following the hearing that she gave Azar "THREE chances to assure us that any coronavirus vaccines or treatments developed with U.S. taxpayer dollars will be affordable and accessible to everyone and he flat out refused to do so."

"He's giving Big Pharma a blank check to monopolize them instead," added Schakowsky.

Progressive advocacy group Social Security Works said late Wednesday that "this is what happens when you put a Big Pharma CEO who doubled the price of insulin in charge of regulating Big Pharma," referring to Azar's tenure at Eli Lilly.

"Pharma and their friends in the Trump admin don't care how many people die," the group wrote, "as long as they get to make a profit."

Good move. Approval seems bipartisan, but I can't help thinking, the more people he delegates to run this task force, when things go south he will point fingers and not own any responsibility.

sThe White House sought to show it washoring up its efforts to corral the spread of coronavirus on Thursday, naming an  i recognized HIV/AIDS expert as its new coronavirus response coordinator.

Debbie Birx is a State Department ambassador-at-large who works on global health diplomacy issues. Vice President Pence said Birx would be detailed to his office.

President Trump put Pence in charge of the response after the stock market plungedand federal health officials warned that Americans should prepare for disruptions if the new COVID-19 coronavirus worsens in the United States.

The issue has quickly become political, and Democrats in Congress and on the campaign trail have panned Trump for minimizing the risks and failing to appoint a "czar" to lead to the response.

Birx will also join Trump's coronavirus task force, led by Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, which is charged with responding to the virus. On Thursday, Pence also bolstered its ranks by adding Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Trump's economic adviser Larry Kudlow — signaling concerns about the growing economic threat posed by the virus. Surgeon General Jerome Adams will also join the task force, Pence said.

Birx directed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's global HIV/AIDS division before she became the U.S. global AIDS coordinator in 2014.

Her new role was applauded by former President Barack Obama's Ebola response coordinator Ron Klain, who was less formally known as the "Ebola czar." But Klain — a close adviser to former Vice President and current Democratic primary candidate Joe Biden — noted there are now layers of top responders to the virus.

Pence Will Control All Coronavirus Messaging From Health Officials

Government health officials and scientists will have to coordinate statements with the vice president’s office, one of three people designated as the administration’s primary coronavirus official.

WASHINGTON — The White House moved on Thursday to tighten control of coronavirus messaging by government health officials and scientists, directing them to coordinate all statements and public appearance with the office of Vice President Mike Pence, according to several officials familiar with the new approach.

President Trump announced Wednesday evening that Mr. Pence would coordinate the government’s response to the public health threat even as he played down the immediate danger from the virus that is spreading rapidly across the globe. Mr. Pence was scheduled to lead a meeting of the government’s coronavirus task force on Thursday.

Officials insist the goal is not to control the content of what subject-matter experts and other officials are saying, but to make sure their efforts are being coordinated, after days of confusion with various administration officials showing up on television. And they say they are not focused on specific news releases rather with a streamlined effort around television appearances.

(CNN)President Donald Trump expressed optimism Thursday that the novel coronavirus would eventually be contained and eliminated in the United States, even as he acknowledged it could get worse first.

"It's going to disappear. One day it's like a miracle, it will disappear," Trump told attendees at an African American History Month reception in the White House Cabinet Room. The World Health Organization says the virus has "pandemic potential" and medical experts have warned it will spread in the US.
The President added that "from our shores, you know, it could get worse before it gets better. Could maybe go away. We'll see what happens. Nobody really knows."
Trump's comments come as the administration battles both the virus and accusations of mismanagement among officials responding to the outbreak.
Earlier on Thursday, CNN reported that Vice President Mike Pence's office would be in charge of all coronavirus messaging after several aides blamed negative coverage of the response on too many mixed messages from senior members of the administration. Later in the day, reports surfaced that a whistleblower at the Department of Health and Human Services is seeking federal protection after complaining that more than a dozen workers who had received the first Americans evacuated from Wuhan, China, lacked proper training or protective gear for infection control.
Trump spoke effusively of the administration's efforts during his remarks Thursday.
"We have done an incredible job. We're going to continue," the President said, claiming that the media won't give the administration "credit" for a successful response to the virus.
Speaking about the 15 individuals diagnosed with the coronavirus on US soil, Trump said that "the 15 will soon be down to three, four."
Trump called his Wednesday appearance before the White House press corps to address the administration's response to the virus "really good" and "a calming press conference."
Trump announced during Wednesday's news conference that he was putting Pence "in charge" of the administration's coronavirus response, adding that the vice president will report directly to him. Minutes later, HHS Secretary Alexander Azar said he was "still chairman of the task force" -- muddling the message and perhaps the point of the news conference regarding who is in charge of the administration's response to the crisis.
