Ok, I believe what CRS is saying that this will be a cold for 80% of the people so here is what that means to me:

1. We will have power

2. We will have clean water

3. We will have supplies delivered across the country

To me that is important we will not be a Doomsday or The Stand movie. I think that is very good!

Correct me if I am wrong CRS.

That is correct, in my opinion. Only some possible "disruptions" in those, but not doomsday scenario.

My problem is this : I dont trust the authorities. I have little faith in the ability of the UK government to deal with the imminent pandemic here.

Plans will be shelved as events overtake plans. Call me cynical but many people nowdays are in it for themselves. Selfishness is the buzz theme. When crisis looms, people panic and grab what they can.

Having said, GREAT BRITAIN won two world wars with the help of our American cousins. We can get through it, if it becomes bad we need to work together.

I wish you well through this TIME. Keep your eyes on Europe. This will be the WEST 's first test.

No I don't see 'The Stand' nor an episode of 'Survivors'. I think the lights will stay on and the sewers will work (except for two of us! ). There may be some hiccups. I am putting my frozen food in insulated bags in the freezers. Said freezers are on 'superfrost' the coldest setting too. That buys time if the power goes out for - say 48 hours.

Supply problems?   I see loads!
Hospital beds?    Bribery, desperation and triage! (Treat the amber wristbands.   The white will recover without treatment and the red will die anyway.)
Possibility of dying for us oldies?   Some - but far less for preppers.

Chance I lose friends?   Fairly good - but not the close ones.

Just IMO, Tech

But don't go to super-frost, keep it just as you always have (don't want to change anything) but rather rinse out some milk jugs, or juice containers fill with water, and put them in the freezer.

We have before and everything still frozen (top stuff just slightly soft) on the cusp 3 days later after power was out.

Works quite well for fridge too, transfer frozen jugs to fridge, everything was kept just cold enough....just have to keep the kids from opening the door constantly.
The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself......FDR

This is my goal and what I've been trying so hard to prepare for to keep family and close friends SAFE. Trying to get those closest to come here to avoid the worst of this.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future". Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

I am worried regarding many people I care about, but not for myself - I've heard heaven is a wonderful place and I don't get to travel much with all the farm chores, might be 'just fine' to spend eternity in a most beautiful wonderful place, with the God I love!
If it's to be - it's up to me!

Brilliant idea! Cold enough here only to need a fridge in the hight of summer - when our temperatures finally reach double figures (centigrade).

Currently sitting at computer, next to stove, having run in as kitchen was too cold to endure - I lasted 5 minutes!

That is my belief, and based upon the experiences in South Korea and Italy, I believe I am correct.

I am heartened that this disease seems to impact the elderly the most - the dreaded "cytokine storm" of the young patient doesn't seem to be happening.  Much of the mortality is likely from secondary bacterial pneumonia, which should be treatable in advanced countries (China, not so much).

I'm still trying to pick this one apart, but so far, I'm not seeing anything that is making me pack my bug-out supplies into the car.  I'll let you know if that happens.
