My girlfriend is a type 1 diabetic and she has a perscription for insulin syringes that only keeps her with sufficient syringes for about 3 months, yet she is able to stock up on insulin well beyone that. (???)
I would like to buy her several more months' worth of syringes, but am having trouble finding a place on the internet to get them without perscription.
Does anyone out there know of an online source for "B-D Ultrafine II Insulin syringes" that would not require perscription ???
(P.S. - I promise we are not intending to resell them to heroine addicts, or to engage in whatever other impropriety causes these things to be available by prescription only)
Thanks in advance.

I would ask her doctor for a prescription for the extra needles and tell him why.

Richee, have you checked to make sure you can't simply walk into walmart and buy them?
I've had to take Heparin injections twice daily for the past couple of years, and use 1 cc insulin syringes. I was surprised to learn I could simply buy them, without an Rx in both Missouri and Florida. Yet my doctor in missouri wrote a Rx for the syringes. Check your local pharmacy. Call more than one. You may get different answers. If you walk in with a vial of insulin, they may well sell you the syringes. If your state doesn't allow this, if you are within driving distance of another state, check there. The law varies around the country. |

We have a generator, and naturally, not nearly enough gasoline.
By my estimation, we should still have essential public services, government services, etc, such as electric. The folks running power plants aren't going to be forced to engage in "social distancing" too much, since they don't come into contact with the public. Also, while governments or industry may not be prepping on our behalfs, they tend to plan for "continuity of business" for themselves.
At any rate, the insulin can keep for a while at room temp if needed, as long as it's not exposed to too much heat. if I run the generator for 2 hours per day, and don't open the fridge door (we have 2 fridges) it should be okay.
After all of our capabilities run out, we will do like everyone else and spray paint a shopping list on the shingles of our roof, so that we can take advantage of the supply system that worked so well in New Orleans.
I'm certain that a guy dressed in a platic suit is going to come to our house once a week anyway to deliver groceries and meds, right?

Like Fla Medic said, in many states a script is not needed. It is usually at the discretion of the pharmacist. If you take the insulin with you, or buy a bottle at the pharmacy the syringes should not be an issue. Pharmacists do not want people with a legitimate need to go without. We just don't want a reputation of selling syringes to lead to a line of scumbags wanting to buy 1 syringe at a time. Edited by DISPENSER 4 HIR - April 14 2006 at 9:32pm |

My dad is a type 1 diabetic also. One thing he has been doing for several years is using the syringe more than once. He keeps the syringe in his kit with the Humaline in a kit in the fridge. He has told me he can get 2-3 days out of one syringe without any problems (he takes it 2X a day). After about the end of the 2nd day, he uses a fresh syringe and only becasue the needle dulls and hurts more if using it longer than that.Something to keep in mind. |

Ok,
They have coolers that plug into your car...This will keep insulin cold. You know this I'm sure but did you know you can get a solar panel for $29.00 that will charge your car battery...It so compact ...I saw this when i was looking for a radio......It's meant for car batteries....The solar panel clamps onto your windshield...This may solve a lot of insulin problem...The solar panel charges your battery and your battery charge you cooler keeping your insulin cold...
B-D Ultrafine II Insulin syringes with out a perscription This is what I type into my www.msn.com search engline and I came up with at least six different places that see that syringe without a prescription.
Hope this help.... Your girl friend is lucky to have you....

RicheeRich: I always buy my syringes without prescription at Walmart's. The pharmacist there told me the only reason you need a prescription for any of the supplies is for insurance purposes. I have been doing this for years. HappyCamper: I did not know about the cooler. Thank you. |
