Hi, boss! Well done!! Thanks to all of us for getting the vaccine, these are brilliant! No chicken eggs to fuss with, no attenuated virus like with smallpox (I have stories), just pure messenger RNA delivered to the interior of our cells via lipid capsules or trojan cold virus. We are all part of a natural experiment - the mRNA vaccines can be deployed very rapidly, and these will give us a valuable tool to fight future pandemics such as H5N1 or H7N9, if and when they emerge. We can count on something yet emerging to whack humanity unawares!! You are all great folks, be safe!! Cheers, Charles |

I received my second Moderna jab last Friday. Other than a knot at the injection site and a few days of more than usual fatigue, I had no adverse reaction. I'm glad it's done and hoping the immunity lasts past six months as I hope to travel down south to visit my sister's family for Christmas. |

I'm confused...... I'm booked in for my jab on 15june I'm guessing it's the AZ,but I thought the AZ was a one shot , However, my brother in law in the UK has had 2 shots of AZ..... What's the story 1 or 2 shots ?? Take care all π·π |

I had Astra Zenica, as did my daughter. Two shots two months apart. (6 weeks to 3 months is advised.) There is talk of a booster in the autumn as well. |

It's the Johnson and Johnson that is the one shot. Astra Zeneca is a 2 shot one. It hasn't been approved here so the vaccine programme is all Pfizer here. |

My mother and I had our second Moderna shots last Tuesday, June 1st. We both had (extremely) sore arms, chills, fatigue, headaches and body aches the next day. She had no fever, but I got one that went up to 102.4°F. Fun! But when the booster occurs in the fall, we will be there! |

There is so much difference in opinions on whether to take the vaccine or not. Without expressing what I decided to do and on what facts or rumours I based my decision. I think we should all focus on getting a healthy lifestyle going. I haven't been sleeping properly since the whole pandemic started, I started anxieties and starting feeling unhealthier than usual. https://www.vitaminexpress.org/uk/melatonin-supplements helped me a lot. I realized working out and staying and eating healthily is the best you can do. Rather than focusing on all the bad around us right now. |

Hi Bart1944, welcome to the site. I agree with you and am working hard on improving my general health and that of my family. Personally I'm focusing on Vitamin D. I'm not surprised to hear that you've been suffering from anxiety as I read recently that the UK has had more days in lockdown than any other country. I have some relatives there and they are so over it. |

Albert!!!! Go get an AstraZeneca shot or a PfizerBiontec. The J&J vaccine is not providing full protection against the Delta+ variant. |

Hi all Been offline for some time, back in January the wife and kids got Covid (positive tests) everyone was sniffy for 24 hrs. The 12 yr old slept for most of a day, and ran a low grade fever, next day everyone was fine. Couple days later I got sick, 9 days of fevers, chills etc: then several days in hospital, oxygen etc; received the Remdesivir, and Monoclonal Antibody treatment. Recovery sucked, was not sure I was ever going back to work, was very worried about this "Long haul" stuff....spent a solid month recovering. For what its worth something weird happened: about a month into recovery, went to bed on a Wednesday, severe chiils, and fever (was running a fever for 4 weeks after Covid on and off anyway) woke up with the worst chills i have ever had. The next morning was feeling terrable, had a cup of tea, and 1/2 hr later, felt fantastic, and never got a chill or fever again, felt like a million dollars....felt like when your sick with the flu and it "breaks" I'm waiting on any shots, the wife wont get one, and I cannot get good info on how long natural immunity lasts.....but for now were not excited about them.

I hope to god that everyone stays safe. It's a dangerous world out there. Hopefully I will able to go back to work in August. If not then I plan to work online . |

No one knows exactly how long the vaccine or naturally acquired immunities last and they may vary between different people. But there are some educated guesses around. So, based on said educated guesses, naturally acquired immunity, 3 months if you are lucky. Vaccinated immunity, there is a slow, steady decline in immunity but you should have good levels of protection for over 6 months, reasonable protection for longer, but not complete. (ie. sick not hospitalised or hospitalised but not dead for the very succeptable.) I do not know why, but there is also some hearsay evidence around, that a second dose of covid is far worse than the first one. My guess would be that this is because of the unseen damage done by the first dose. - But I am not an educated guesser, just a guesser. |

Conclusions Individuals who have had SARS-CoV-2 infection are unlikely to benefit from COVID-19 vaccination, and vaccines can be safely prioritized to those who have not been infected before. Summary Cumulative incidence of COVID-19 was examined among 52238 employees in an American healthcare system. COVID-19 did not occur in anyone over the five months of the study among 2579 individuals previously infected with COVID-19, including 1359 who did not take the vaccine. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.06.01.21258176v2 |

Thank you, Ksc, that was more up-to-date than anything I had seen. I stand corrected. |

I wouldn't "stand corrected". I'm sure there are other studies out there that "prove" the opposite. " Now, a new NIH-supported study shows that the answer to this question will vary based on how an individual’s antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 were generated: over the course of a naturally acquired infection or from a COVID-19 vaccine. The new evidence shows that protective antibodies generated in response to an mRNA vaccine will target a broader range of SARS-CoV-2 variants carrying “single letter” changes in a key portion of their spike protein compared to antibodies acquired from an infection. These results add to evidence that people with acquired immunity may have differing levels of protection to emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants. More importantly, the data provide further documentation that those who’ve had and recovered from a COVID-19 infection still stand to benefit from getting vaccinated." |

I would still get the shot. Why would a person turn down a free opportunity to have more protection? |

Thank you for your graciousness, Ksc. But that was a real study you found and I would not argue with it. Further information will emerge, but that is the gold standard for now. I get the weighing of the risks too, no vaccine is 100% safe. But in the shoes of a person who has had COVID, I would still get vaccinated, as I still think the risks are greater from the bug than the vaccine (specifically this time, with this bug). Different people have different immune memorys and all the cohorts of study to date for this issue are small by accepted standards. The time frame covered is also short. In addition those who have had COVID sometimes have hidden damage (Remember the happy hypoxics? ). Then the bug gets them again and the results are far worse than the first time around, as further damage is piled on top of the first hidden injuries. The Delta+ variant is even worse for causing bodily damage, as it spreads throughout the host's system more easily, damaging a greater range of internal organs during primary infection. It does not even have to wait for a secondary infection to kill or maim the host. This also argues for getting a vaccination, whatever your COVID history. |

Sorry for the late welcome, Bart! I get the stress you've been under. I'm in NYC so stress started early and continued. I didn't realize how stressed I was until I started shedding more than the cat. I added 10,000 Biotin to my morning pills and found a huge difference after about a month. So... if anyone is dealing with stress-related hair loss... try it. It worked for me. |

The wife is now "double-jabbed". and I will be in a week's time. [Although she is younger than I, her health conditions put her above me on the list]. From what is discussed in the local papers it seems that she might be offered a third dose at some time. The discussions are that those who are "old or have underlining health conditions" will be offered a third dose, but the decision has not yet been made. - - - Although I am retired I probably will be considered as being too young |

Forgot a week ago to add that I am now double jabbed. A small fever the next day, a bit more than the first time, but soon over it. I suppose I will need to wait until Christmas time for a booster. |

It's Saturday morning here in NZ and I just popped into my local doctor's surgery as I was passing and I found it jam packed full of elderly people all having their Covid vaccines. They were averaging 6 people every 5 minutes. Honestly they were in there like sardines and all looking very pleased about it. It was a very funny sight. I heard 2 old men both joke with the young receptionist about their arm falling off. Bless her, she laughed each time. There was a real party atmostphere which was lovely to see. |
