Pheasant, the vast majority of people who comment on this site are firmly entrenched in the view that the vaccines are the one and only answer to Covid and that the unvaccinated are literally the spawn of the Devil, so this chart will fall on deaf ears. |

Sorry, I had not realized the forums had become that partisan. There once was a time where knowledge, wisdom and science took years and decades to coalesce. I guess we now are so smart that in a few short months we achieved undisputed knowledge in the unknown. |

Pheasant you are a breath of fresh air on here. It's become like one big back-slapping mutual admiration society. Please stick around. |

When you balance out the afflictions to the pre covid US yearly cases of them they are a small %. Nothing comes without risks, even vaccines. https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/covid-vaccine-tracker-global-distribution/ In the U.S., 386 million doses have been given so far. In the last week, an average of 774,627 doses per day were administered. Annual United States Road Crash Statistics More than 38,000 people die every year in crashes on U.S. roadways. The U.S. traffic fatality rate is 12.4 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. An additional 4.4 million are injured seriously enough to require medical attention. http://www.hopexchange.com/Statistics.htm Although statistics can vary slightly from one source to the next, here is a general account (based primarily on information provided by the March of Dimes) of the frequency of miscarriages in the United States: More than 500,000 pregnancies each year end in miscarriage (occurring during the first 20 weeks). Bell’s palsy affects about 40,000 people in the United States every year. It can affect anyone of any gender and age, but its incidence seems to be highest in those in the 15- to 45-year-old age group. https://www.myocarditisfoundation.org/about-myocarditis/ Myocarditis is classified as a rare disease but is estimated to affect thousands of adults and children in the U.S. and around the world each year. 3.1 million cases of myocarditis were diagnosed in 2017 (statistics posted in Lancet, November 2018) https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/646961 Tens of thousands of anaphylactic reactions occur each year.1 It is estimated that 1 in every 3000 inpatients in US hospitals suffers from an anaphylactic reaction.2 Furthermore, the risk of death among those who suffer a reaction has been estimated to be about 1%, with as many as 500 to 1000 deaths annually. https://www.cdc.gov/shingles/index.html About 1 out of every 3 people in the United States will develop shingles, also known as herpes zoster, in their lifetime. An estimated 1 million people get shingles each year in this country. https://www.ucsfhealth.org/conditions/immune-thrombocytopenia In the United States, an estimated 30,000 new cases of ITP are diagnosed each year. Approximately 70 percent of adults with ITP are women, and 70 percent of these women are under the age of 40 when diagnosed. ITP is more common in children than in adults, and boys and girls are equally affected. https://millionhearts.hhs.gov/learn-prevent/cost-consequences.html Approximately 1.5 million heart attacks and strokes occur every year in the United States. More than 800,000 people in the United States die from cardiovascular disease each year—that's 1 in every 3 deaths, and about 160,000 of them occur in people under age 65. |

I hear what you're saying Pixie, of course there is a risk associated with everything, and life is about weighing up those risks. For an elderly person or a vulnerable person then the risk of Covid probably far out weighs the risk of the vaccine, but for a younger, healthier, more robust person the odds start swinging the other way. The chances of a severe illness resulting in death for a child who is not vulnerable is 0.0002%, whereas the risk of an adverse reaction to the vaccine is far, far higher. The risk of a child developing myocarditis after receiving a Covid jab is such that even Pfizer are recommending that boys only receive one shot (as the problem is most likely to show up after the second shot). So weighing up as the mother of boys I can see that my fit, healthy strong children would be better off getting Covid than getting the vaccine. It's a no brainer. Why expose them to unnecessary risks and an experimental vaccine when they don't need it? I'd rather they catch it, get over it and have developed a natural immune defense to it. |

https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/08/health/delta-variant-in-kids/index.html A record-high 2,544 children were hospitalized with Covid-19 on September 10, according to data from the US Department of Health and Human Services. An average of 341 pediatric Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospitals every day during the week ending September 12, according to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. -- More than 57,000 children have been hospitalized with Covid-19 since August 2020, according to CDC data. Many of those children had no known preexisting conditions. -- While childhood Covid-19 deaths are still rare, that number is increasing. At least 529 children have died from Covid-19, according to CDC data. In some cases, children who start with mild or no symptoms from Covid-19 end up hospitalized weeks or months later with a condition called MIS-C -- multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children. MIS-C is "a rare but serious condition associated with COVID-19 in which different body parts become inflamed, including the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes, or gastrointestinal organs," the CDC says. It happens when "the virus induces your body to make an immune response against your own blood vessels" -- which can cause inflammation of the blood vessels, said pediatrician Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia. At least 4,661 cases of MIS-C had been reported, including 41 deaths, the CDC said. Many of the children with MIS-C don't start off very sick with Covid-19. "Usually children are picked up incidentally as having (coronavirus). Someone in the family was infected, a friend was infected, so they got a PCR test. And they're found to be positive. ... Then they're fine," Offit said. "Then a month goes by, and they develop a high fever. And evidence of lung, liver, kidney or heart damage. That's when they come to our hospital." |

Pixie there are 73 million children in the US. So 2500 of them end up in hospital from Covid that's 0.0034% I wonder how many end up with vaccine injuries? |
