Hello all.

I hope everyone is well. Apologies for taking a break, things can get too much...

We got Covid again unfortunately. I got a blood clot in leg and my scan of lungs was full of dark patches. The doctor said it was supposedly a classic covid thing. I barely had a cough!!! And would never have even known only for being in the hospital with the blood clot. My daughters temperature wouldn't come down from 39/40 over a day and my husband (who never gets sick) got shakes at night. Overall it was bad but funny enough we feel stronger and mentally better. We beat it again and hopefully that will be the worst!

The saying 'out of the fire and into the frying pan' sums up the overall situation here. The fuel prices are sky rocketing and petrol stations have ran out. The food prices are increasing. Thankfully we are just out of winter as the heating (even wood and fuel) and electric are going crazy prices. It is headed a very bad way here and food shortages will be a very scary thing to see.

Ireland has already gone into emergency mode/plan

Hi LittleSmile,

I'm sorry you've had Covid again. Was it the same variant do you know? So what are the dark spots on your lungs? Are they clots or scarring? What have they done to remove your blood clot?

That's an interesting article you've posted. I've read this morning that there is talk of fuel rationing in the UK and it's all sounding a bit like the WW2 homefront efforts, with farmers being ordered to grow crops. I came to Ireland on my honeymoon and remember just how green it was, so lush and beautiful. At least you are in a fantastic country for growing crops.

Get better soon.

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

I am sad for you.  I had to spend a lot of time in the hospital.  My problems were with my lungs and heart so you need the very best doctors.  Go to a specialist hospital and get someone who will fight for your life.  Had to go to the best doctors I could find.   We needed the expert Dr. Hotez.  We got him and  we won.   So,  first get the best doctor you can find.  Get the best medical care you can find. Skilled nursing care is a vital part of the strategy to win.   Now, good luck and hope you do well.   Praying for you.

Thank you all :-) We are recovered well now.

They had me on blood thinning injections (clexane? Don't think I've spelt that right lol) and thankfully the clot in leg is gone. I'm still wearing my stocking tho. The patches on my lungs seemed to be damage. I guess it was something like a circulation problem? That's what I imagine anyway, but doctors here don't tell you the full story lol. I was very surprised as like I said had barely a cough and my breathing totally fine.. But we are all good now and mentally feeling better too...

Yes it is very strange times we are in. For some people it can't get any worse. 🙏

Yes anyone looking into Ireland would think how green and how much we grow for ourselves. It must seem very self sufficient lol. That is not the case unfortunately. We rely on outside countries and mostly grow for outside countries too. Farmers were already struggling before but this year will make or break them. They will not be able to afford the fuel if it keeps rising. They are already struggling with fertiliser prices. Then also animal feed (for like chickens) are rising quickly too. If things keep going the way they are the prices in shops will sky rocket...

There is a chance of this being a positive for counties like us. To become more self aware, self sufficient and strong within ourselves. For farmers to farm the old way. Buying and selling at markets. For people to shop local (and not big supermarkets) and eat less meat. For people to be able to cook from scratch. For everyone to grow their own food and become more community minded. I don't think it'll happen, but still hope lol.

:-)

Yes, that is him, he is a brilliant doctor.

As far as his defamation suit, I don't know about that issue. He was very nice to us.

You can only do the less meat thing if the crops are being grown....... You've got to eat something.

Home heating oil getting stole here. It is the worst I have ever known. The thieves in the past have only targeted big farms and business but now its homes. Thankfully we are out of winter otherwise older people would struggle badly...

* I agree everything relies on grains. So lack of grains will be a massive problem.
