Shop until you drop, literally

In many areas of the US, and indeed the.world, some form of social distancing is in place.

But there is one big exception: grocery stores.

Preppers buy food before a crisis, not just because they are concerned about shortages, but because they want to reduce their risk of exposure to infectious agents.

I fear that shopping for groceries may be a weak link in our attempt to slow the spread of virus. Grocery store clerks are almost certainly getting infected given the number of people they are exposed to. And shoppers are likely getting infected by each other and grocery store clerks.

To avoid this, it would be best if people ordered their food online or by phone, had it collected by an in store shopper, and put by the curb for safe retrieval by customers.

Xi Jinping is responsible for the SARS-2 pandemic

I’m getting tired of this meme about the “US and China blaming each other for the pandemic, a pox on both their houses”.

Let’s be clear, whether or not the virus was engineered , Xi Jinping is personally responsible for the pandemic.

He knew about it weeks before any other world leader, ordered a cover up and lied about the danger of the virus. This is what caused the Pandemic, i. e., the spread of the virus throughout the world.

It is fine to criticize the US, or any other government, for their response to the Pandemic. But Xi Jinping caused it. Don’t let him or the Communist Party  in the media attempt to blur this simple and horrible fact.

No going back

We would all like to “go back normal”. But I don’t think this is going to happen.

Short of a miracle, SARS-2 is not simply going to disappear.

More likely, we will experience multiple waves of the spread with multiple strains. Although a vaccine would be the best defense, I have my doubts that this will be an entirely successful solution.

At best, I would say that it would be a partial solution, like a flu vaccine. Social distancing, testing and anti-virals are more sure.

However, unless we are prepared to accept a lowered life expectancy-the 60% of Americans at increased risk of death from this virus are going to permanently change how they live.

If you can figure out a way to get a job where telecommuting is possible, please pursue this with great speed. Now would be a great time to take online courses in programming and IT work.

The “Big One”?

I’m not sure that SARS-2 is the Big One.

As bad as it is, I can imagine a virus that could be worse - think airborne Ebola with a long period of viral shedding before its lethality kicks in.

As I have mentioned many times, with synthetic biology, if you can think it, you can make it. Do you trust Xi Jinping and the fanatical madman running the PLA? Would you bet your life that they wouldn’t do anything “bad”?

Not me. Keep prepping. Deep preps now.

Me neither.

Social unrest is a bigger risk than Xi, but I really don't trust that megalomaniac.

How do you tell if a politician is lying?
His lips or pen are moving.
