I ask  all of you to really listen to the news.  These articles only tell half the story.  California grows a HUGE amount of this nation's food.  Our drought is very severe.  The big agri-farmers are cutting their crops by up to half.  There's no guarantee there will be enough water for even that amount.  And the prices are going to go through the roof!  The state is broke and will charge enormous prices for the water.  In turn, the consumer will have to pay as well.

Everyone can have a garden, even if it is in containers by a sunny window.  There are even special varieties made for container planting.  It's not too late to plan one.  And you seasoned gardeners, perhaps plant an even bigger one than last year.

If this country is hit with a pandemic, terrorist attack, or more severe weather like last year  we're really going to be hurting.  And if you have room, maybe try planting a couple of medicinal herbs used for flu.  You won't have to brave going out into public if you have your medicines growing in your own yard.
But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of the Lord

Genetically modified (GM) foods
................................................
are food items that have had their DNA changed through genetic engineering.
Many major controversies surround genetically engineered crops and foods.

These commonly focus on the long-term health effects for anyone eating them, environmental safety, labeling and consumer choice, intellectual property rights, ethics, food security, poverty reduction, environmental conservation, and potential disruption or even possible destruction of the food chain.

Proponents claim the technology to be a boom for the human race, while critics believe it to be a potential or actual health or ecological disaster.
