Hello All, I used to post here years ago when H5N1 was more in the news. I thought I would share with you my current life. I moved to East Africa 3 years ago. I now live here happily enjoying the sunshine and a very different way of life. I assumed that Ebola would be a hot topic here so I am sharing with you my perspective. I live in Kenya, East Africa. The Ebola going on in West Africa is mostly ignored at the moment. I have found most people are reactive instead of proactive so they won't do anything until it is in their face. I personally am just watching as events unfold. If it spreads like you would expect it to I will stay here because it is the safest place I know. It appears they are trying desperately to keep it in the countries where the outbreak began. The chances of that are... I believe the medical community will get better at treating it and will decrease the death rate. However, if it spreads across the world life will change drastically. At this moment life is normal here. You would not know what is going on in West Africa if you don't follow the news.

Thanks Albert, I will check in every now and then and update you. Places like Sierra Leon and Liberia are extremely undeveloped so the news there and response will be kind of hard to get the truth out of. Those countries have very few doctors and lack in equipment. Those trying to help have to deal with superstition and ignorance on a very high level. Where I am is almost like living in any major city. I would compare it to something like Cancun or Mazatlan. All is good here for now. If it reaches here you can assume it is where you are too.

If Ebola is ever in the newspaper there, feel free to post pictures here. Would love to see the headline and get feel coming out of Africa.

Albert, Ebola is in the newspaper and there are lots of travel restrictions regarding airports. They are checking temperatures of people every time they enter the airport.

Excellent to know. Health officials are no longer really saying much.

Post a headline pic from paper from time to time if you remember. Would love to know thoughts about it from Africa. Thanks again 7. Your input is much appreciated. Share anything and everything.

I have thought that the taking temperature at borders to be interesting. I mean it is good in the sense that it could identify Ebola carriers who are at the point of being symptomatic. But I feel it is a false sense of security considering incubation time prior to victims becoming symptomatic. It would make sense if it was coupled with quarantine, but without quarantine of travelers it seams sort of hollow.

Most airports here are actually refusing travelers from west Africa. They have even cut flights. There actually has been a very good job of quarantining possible cases. The scary part about how serious it is is that countries like Sierra Leon and Liberia are pretty much being quarantined. I mean the entire country. They are lacking in everything. Food and supplies are not getting in.

Im afraid they're not necessarily being quarantined, but maybe like a large death camp.  Sadly i'm not sure there of anything else that can be done, in my opinion.  They also have to do it quickly before a mass exodus to E Africa.

Welcome back 7laws. Like Albert I totally appreciate you being eyes and ears for us of the situation there from one of our own. That is invaluable!!! I have tried to find a few locals there to get signed up here but really got no where with it. So thank you for offering up your servitude in the truth!

Albert, that is pretty much what I meant. I just did not want to use the word death camp. That area of the world is mostly bush. There is zero chance of keeping everyone in. They can stop people at the border crossings but cannot stop them from crossing in the woods. This thing is in God's hands now. The good thing is that it is not very contagious if you compare it to the flu. You can avoid it if you are even semi prepared. Also, Africa is very big. The people would likely try to migrate south if they ran away from it. Where I live is like living in Miami and there is an outbreak in Vancouver, BC. Meaning if it reaches here it is everywhere. My biggest piece of advice would be to remember the incubation period is long. The first person to get it within 500 miles of you would mean that it is probably close to your city already. Otherwise, I go on living a happy and good life. I will still enjoy life and not spend too much time chasing the bad news. I will reduce contact with people but will only isolate myself and family if it gets so bad it is like the movies. We will just have to watch and see. Today I will go golfing and finish the day with Nyama Choma (BBQ) and maybe enjoy a beer!

That sounds great 7laws.   BBQ and a beer. mmmm....  enjoy my friend!

I'm glad you decided to look us up again 7.  And of course we will be following this until the end.   At least you have a place to go (here) and call for an airstrike if it continues to spread, lol.   We also set up a sister site/forum located at ebolainfo.org - so you have two sites tracking it.    I believe the new site is the only one of its kind, and I suppose so is this for that matter.   We will all see this thru to the end.

Keep us updated my friend - and have an ice cold one for me.   And no bush meat on bbq, lol.

If you google "Ebola forum discussion" Ebolainfo.org is number one, Avianflutalk.com is number two and Swineflu.org is number five. That can only mean one thing.

It should be the same for Ebola forum, ebola discussion, ebola discussion forum, Ebola online discussion and ebola info should be on page 1 or 2 of google. Thanks oneflu - you're on top of it my friend.

Yep. The point being that these sites are exclusive and or number one in the world.
