From a news article: "The penalty is designed to prod Americans to buy insurance and the penalty for not having it is scheduled to rise considerably: to a $325 minimum or 2 percent of income in 2015, and to a $695 minimum or 2.5 percent of income in 2016.
Tax experts said those stung by a higher penalty the first year may buy plans to escape the penalty the next go-around. Read more: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jan/18/obamacare-penalty-may-come-as-shock-at-tax-time/#ixzz3PF3qtiRP Follow us: @washtimes on Twitter" The joke is I just paid for my son's health insurance...he is 21. The cost $1,900.00 so it is cheaper to pay the penalty. My 21 year old would have to make 50,000.00 a year for a penalty of 1,200.00 not anywhere near the 1,900.00 his health insurance cost. Then if you get sick you can get insurance with no preexisting illness stopping you from getting insurance. I wonder if the insurance will have to pay for that preexisting illness when the insurance kicks in? This whole thing is a joke and this is going to cause our health care system to be a failure. I think we did not need this complicated Obamacare it would be as simple as letting all companies compete across the country to lower costs and require all companies to have 20% of their customers have preexisting conditions. If that 20% was not high enough to cover people then they could raise that number on a yearly basis. If people needed financial help it could have been done as a credit on their taxes. This is not brain surgery!!! |

The whole insurance thing is a joke. I put in my 19 year old full time college student (who only works during summer and breaks) so her income is $0 at the present time and it would cost $71 a month AND a $6000 deductible. So they expect a person with no income to pay this? with what? She cannot really work during the semesters because she plays sports and there is no time. She has a full ride so there are no college expenses but it eliminates her being able to work.

It is a tax. We use to have insurance before the idiots in Washington did this to the workers. It is a shame people were told before Obama and his clan were elected, still people voted for him. Wait until they start cutting medical services for the people retired.
