These are the times that try men’s souls http://www.ushistory.org/PAINE/ “These are the times that try men’s souls.” This simple quotation from Founding Father Thomas Paine’s The American Crisis not only describes the beginnings of the American Revolution, but also the life of Paine himself. Throughout most of his life, his writings inspired passion, but also brought him great criticism. He communicated the ideas of the Revolution to common farmers as easily as to intellectuals, creating prose that stirred the hearts of the fledgling United States. comment: Make no mistake – we move towards a precipice in politics in the U.S. where if we fall, we will not walk away without massive damage to our lives, our people, and the world as we know it. Just as warriors in Korea were fooled by MSG to eat slop and think it was delicious, and nation after nation has believed and fallowed some of the craziest people in history, so it amazes me how bad it all is. I pray that somehow, this morning, what was one nation under God will somehow remember what brought us up in unity to fight for our liberty and the amazing United States. There are more than rumors of war – there is war and conflict which fans across the Middle East and now floods into Syria. Medclinician – John Bell |
