Saudi man dies of coronavirus, two new cases announced

Riyadh: A Saudi national died in the province of Al-Baha after contracting the the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV).

The man, aged 38, developed the symptoms of the disease and was admitted to a public hospital in Al-Baha where he died of serious health complications.

The Ministry of Health said that two others, a forty-year-old Saudi and an expatriate worker aged 38, also tested positive for the virus in Dammam and in the province of Al-Baha.

Thanks Arirish for keeping us posted on this.

I wonder if this will keep spluttering along in KSA (and a few other countries), or if it will finally make a break for the wider world.  I suppose if it is still tied to camels as an important vector then it will stay 'local' to where it now is.

This is happening during Ramadan when many Muslims visit their holy land! If it doesn't spread now I don't think it will! And you're right, without a camel herd to sustain it, good infection control can stop it. It's worth watching but baring mutation I'm not too worried about it!
