Measles outbreak reported in Tortosa, CataloniaMay 6, 2018
Officials with the Public Health Agency of Catalonia (ASPCAT) are reporting (computer translated) additional cases in the measles outbreak in the city of Tortosa, Catalonia, Spain. With the report of two additional cases, the outbreak total is now 13. Four additional cases are suspect and being investigated with laboratory testing pending. The outbreak originated in the Hospital Verge de la Cinta last March and to date, seven of the cases have been confirmed in hospital workers. All of the cases were uncomplicated and no hospitalizations were required. Those affected have been asked to remain isolated in their homes until the period of transmission of the disease, which goes from about four days before to four days after the appearance of the rash on the skin.
