While the virus is a serious public health concern, the risk to most people outside China remains very low, and seasonal flu is a more immediate threat. To avoid any viral illness, experts advise washing your hands frequently and avoiding your office or school when you’re sick. Most healthy people don’t need masks, and hoarding them may contribute to shortages for health workers who do need them, experts say.

The first I heard back in January Started that day and shopped 7 days straight, punch listed the holes and today I am done, last run this morning, went to bank, rolls of change, small bills, topped off gas.All the times I shopped it was leisurely, I feel for anyone getting caught flat footed with no supplies or to have to stand in line wondering if anybody is infected.

Smart moves! I stocked up on dense, high-energy foods (peanut butter is amazing), prescription drugs (as much as damned insurance would let me), and cash. I have prepped since the 1980s and have plenty of guns/ammo if need be - since I collaborate with law enforcement, I am part of their system but without a badge/arrest powers (don't want/need it). Make your disaster plan if you don't have one - if you and your family get separated, where will you meet? Do your flashlights work? Cell phones? Lighters/matches/candles? Hand Soap - essential as the primary means of spread in the community setting will be fecal/oral, NOT respiratory! Wearing an open mask in broad daylight is dumb. This is a savvy crowd with some seasoned vets, so please ask if you have questions.

Our BBC news showed HUGE, I MEAN HUGE queues for masks in Korea. I was watching and thinking: "You prats! What if someone in the line has it? Queuing is risky behaviour."

Made my last runs to Sams and to grocery store just got home. Have to rest before I start loading everything in the house. Everything normal at Sams nothing missing. Got stuff at grocery store I most likely will not need gauze bandages for one but if someone is hurt and needs a bandage. I purchased powdered creamer for my tea just in case!!! Got more TP and comfort foods at Sams.
Pixie and CRS I was at work when I saw the people standing in line for masks and thought the same thing, someone probably has Covid19 next to you!!! LOL great minds!! |

We went on Saturday and finished up most of our pantry basics — then went online and ordered another can of powdered eggs for baking with. There is still so much more that I know I would like to get, but other than certain meds which I will grab after my hubby gets paid, we are good for three months. Not as much as I would like, but better than we were.
Next priorities: Fill the propane tanks, grab meds, start storing water in every extra container I can find (we have almost 200 gallons, but that’s just not enough when you live in the desert!), print off everything I have stored digitally. |

We made the decision that my wife would not do any more trips to town. She is a type 1 diabetic. She is SIP. I teach at the local school (20 kids pre-k through 11th grade), so not to much of a risk as it would be elsewhere. We only go to town 1-2 times per month anyway.
