CRS I have seen you post a few times that you are packing your BOB and going to Mexico and loading your mags. Is it really that bad? I am now thinking I need to get plywood in for my windows? Is it time to get all of that? |

Not yet, but I want to be ready! Better to have loaded firearms than empty iron & a bunch of cartridges in boxes. I'll let you know if I hear of anything dire. Right now, it is the early phase of the epidemic in the US, with community borne infection. We are all likely to get it eventually. Thank you, Chinese Death Star as Kilt calls it! |

Chuck, do you live in an urban area? Are you really planning on bugging out somewhere or are you joking? |

a) we live about 40 miles away b) I do consulting work down there and have connections c) I speak fluent Spanish d) I could barter my degree and expertise with the government e) money goes farther f) drugs and medical care are much less expensive if you pay cash g) it gets us the hell away from Trump & the USA. I'd have to leave (most of) the guns on this side of the border, but that's OK. I have ways to deal with that. We moved here exactly one year ago as part of our preparation for eventual disaster in the USA, I don't regret our decision one tiny bit. |

Kiwimum, I've been preparing for an American disaster since 9/11. Our move was specifically to get away from a crowded, explosive city (Chicago) with its racial tensions and messed up politics, and we live 30 miles south of the second largest city in Arizona, Tucson. One of the considerations for our move was proximity to Mexico. I've worked down there and still have business and government connections, and I could parlay my degree to help them....this has been in my planning since the 1970s, which is why I took Spanish in high school and university. I still study Spanish every day. I'm NOT particularly scared of the SARS-CoV2 virus, although I am at an age that I am at elevated risk. It is our fellow citizens that bother me more than anything. If things get tense, I want to be able to evacuate. Not that we will do that, but I want the option to be ours. I'll let people know when the balloon goes up, if it does. You will all probably know about it at the same time I do. Be safe, have faith and don't worry. |

Thanks Chuck. I agree about the people risk. We selected our place very carefully too, and I think we made the right decision. Personally I think the risk to the global economy is greater than the risk to people at large. I know people will die but the majority won't, but all will be impacted if the world's economies collapse. The vast majority simply aren't prepared for that and neither are the governments. It could have such catastrophic implications on society that it's not something governments can prepare for. We are certainly living in interesting times. It's good to have a plan. |
