So my elderly Parents decided today would be the day to start a kitchen remodel.  They say it is okay because only one person would be here to do the lights, and then one person latter to paint, and besides the person that is doing the lights has already been  here.

For me this is an incredibly low priority at the this point in time.   Not just because of the risk of having people in the house, but also because of the economic conditions.  For my mom purchasing things or changing things in the house is a way for her to feel good, boost her self esteem.  My dad is going along with it just to appease her.

I say life should go back to normal in 3-6 months.   That is a very short period of time.   Then we can make decisions for our future, right now, our only priority should be to stay healthy, EVERYTHING else is secondary.   For me I have given up everything but work.   I work in a nursing home, I feel it it would be immoral of me to give it up.  Besides I feel very safe at work (Thank you Mr President).   The building is in lock down.   Only essential medical personal our allowed in (absolutely no visitors), and EVERYBODY gets their temps check regularly.   A week ago I felt very nervous about working, now I feel very safe at work.

Sorry for the rant, I hope you are all doing well!

I sympathise.

I know a grandmother, who has grandchildren living with her.  She has heart disease and one of the grandchildren is a lukemia patient.

She will not stop going to the pub for a drink - ALMOST EVERY NIGHT!!!!

What can you do?  YCFS.

How do you tell if a politician is lying?
His lips or pen are moving.

DeepThinker - so SO glad to hear that you are feeling safer at work.  That you, your clients and the other staff have at least some safe guards in place, praying that the containment measures work and you are all ok through this.   And yes - I agree that a kitchen reno is poorly timed - disease risk and $'s wise, I think all you can do is show them the numbers, maybe get them to read Alberts post from FB (it was awesome)… hugs of reassurance from the great white north!

If it's to be - it's up to me!

I  certainly understand what both of you are talking about, many of my relation are clueless about that is going on in the world today.  One of my b
rothers doesn't get it. He is more interested in sports than he is about the pandemic. He has no clue about Covid 19 or  why people are freaking out.  He has no idea about anything.  All he cares about is basketball, base ball and football.  He has no weapons, no supplies  and lives in  a posh suburb.  He is not stupid, just pathetically unprepared.  He does not even have a manual can opener.  He told  me that he is puzzled by all of this panic.   he said " the stores will always be open. " If I need something I can go to 7-11 .   I tried to drill into his skull about preps..... God help him,  he Is hopeless .
