I had to break SIP today to take a long walk. Anyone who has suffered with a bout of sciatica knows the only way to break it is to walk. I maintained social distancing, but was surprised at how many people were out and about. I did stop at a local coffee shop that had removed their tables and chairs for a cup. The two other customers in the shop maintained appropriate distance. I also went into a local market picking up some sweet potatoes and buttermilk. There too, people kept their distance from one another (except for this old lady shopping with her daughter). A whole lot of people were wearing surgeon's masks (exposed?) and a few wearing respirators. I took appropriate precautions and probably overused my hand santizer while I was out. Of course I washed my hands when I came back and wiped anything I purchased down with vinegar before I put it away. Best laid plans, as they say. But it just goes to show sometimes SIP must be broken. |

Yea, I'm SIP but my brother is going to stores etc. He went to Home Depot and said it was like a normal Saturday afternoon. Tons of people, many of them in the older age groups. He said he thinks it's going to be like Italy here because no one is taking it seriously. |

I could not explain mousetraps to my cats - but it's my job to protect them. I could not explain traffic to my dogs - but it's my job to guide them. I have friends who fail to get this - I keep trying, it's my duty. YCFS true! But conscience says keep trying. Then if they still fail to survive, you may still grieve, but at least with a clear conscience. |

It's not just about letting them die. What about the people they will take with them? That is one refrain that I find unconscionable. A nearby factory is still working, and the appliances they make are in no way essential right now. They could easily shut down for a few weeks, and the world would barely register a blip from that loss. Employees are standin two feet apart on the line. And they are terrified. Should we let them die too, because their boss is greedy? Seriously, I don't think there is going to be a run on kitchen appliances any time soon. |

Wow, not everyone can afford to stay home. Not everyone has a bankroll to pay bills at this time. I've been semi-sip and SIP for a while now, but I'm seeing ads looking for help. Ironically I've been prepping for years as much as I could afford to, but the bankroll safety net has been drained dry within the past year. Due to serious family illness, no sales of farm stock, multiple breakdowns of equipment/building repairs... so now....do I take a job or do I sit home with no gas and no power (and soon no vehicle insurance!)… so I deserve to die FluMom - because I'm stupid enough to try to cover bills at this time? BE KIND - QUIT JUDGING - not everyone is sitting pretty...! |

I am taking it seriously. My point is .. sometimes SIP just has to get broken. In my case, I couldn't stand the sciatica pain. I've got enough mobility problems. Adding sciatica to it, made it impossible. I did what I knew would fix it. I did it as safely as I could. |
