So we have been sheltering in place for about 2 weeks. Anyone have any lessons learned? Anything they wished they had done differently? Anything you wished you would have bought more of/less of? I wished I had stocked up a little more on a few items, like dry and canned dog food. We will be out of canned dog food in another week and have about 50lbs of dog food left for 2 dogs, which should last another month, but I'm thinking this is going to last longer than another month. I also could not find my favorite deodorant for the past month prior to SIP so I'm making an online order of everything. I also wished I would have gotten more UHT milk, I only got 2 quarts, I have 10 packages of powdered milk, which we can probably never use that much, but at least we have it. So far, I think I have enough of everything else. |

I've been really good with most of my pet preps thankfully. They should be good another couple of months. I've started doing mail order for my refills, but Kaiser cut it really close despite filling my medicine two weeks early. Seven days in advanced would have not been enough so I am glad I did it two weeks early. I ran low on my almond milk, but everyone seems to have bought out the nut milks, minus pea milk and regular cow milk (my lactose intolerance is far too bad for that though so I have calcium/vitamin D Orange juice as well). Otherwise, my other items are good. |

Well I wish I had lettuce, but some will grow in a month. At this point I am not missing much but if I SIP until August I imagine I will run out of some stuff. I will not be able to stay on my Keto diet but that will just have to be started back up when this is all over. I am excited about starting my garden for some fresh veggies. I purchased a 7' x3' x3' green house for 30.00 and will start plants next week to see how it works. Never have done this so a learning experience. |

Flumom, a keto diet would be really hard in a SIP situation. The main thing we've stocked up on is carbs. I'm working harder than ever in the kitchen. I have 3 men to feed who seem to be continuously hungry! I swear they have hollow legs! As for pet food, we're good. I've been clearing some old meat out of the freezers and am defrosting and cooking it up for the dogs a pack at a time. We should be good for months yet. We're fine on milk, cream and butter as we have a lactating cow. I'm making butter every second day. We've offered free milk to our neighbours but they have yet to take us up on the offer. They must be well stocked themselves. |

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

KiwiMum you've elicited a childhood memory for me. My grandmother used to skim off the cream, put it in mason jars and make us kids jump around and shake it into butter. We had a great time and Grandma got the added benefit of ensuring she'd have peace and quiet when we needed a nap! |
