That's why this fall and winter are going to be very important.  Our failure to be proactive with this virus will probably come back and bite us on the @$$ now.  If it doesn't, it's because we're lucky, not good.  I don't know any other way to say it.  And my strong feeling is, if there is not a serious regime change in the US, this 200,000 dead now, is gonna seem like the good old days of this pandemic.

Viqueen, I think you are correct with "the good old days" analogy. Hopefully, we get some type of change. Our governor Stitt is as bad as Trump lol. I think everyone should quarantine again and just say to hell with the economy. Because if we don't have any people left alive none of it will matter anyway.

Well given the latest CDC numbers that's hardly a concern. This isn't Ebola, MERS, smallpox ect, it's extremely curious why some act as if it was.

0-19              99.997% 

20-49           99.98%

 50-69           99.5%

I think you are right, Penny.  The economists and scientists appear to agree on one point, the economy can't recover whilst the pandemic rages.  'And let's not forget that it would rage even worse if we were not globally trying to suppress it.


If you think there is light at the end of the tunnel, have you considered it could be the headlights of an oncoming train?

As a rule of thumb, those countries who locked down early and hard (eg. - but not only: Canada, Australia, South Korea, New Zealand) have done way better ECONOMICALLY  than those who tried to juggle things (eg.  - but not only: USA, UK,)  There are exceptions, like Italy which got unlucky and Sweden which has a naturally compliant, socially and physically distanced population; but they are just that exceptions.


Even were this not correct, economies recover, corpses don't.

I know one thing, 

Because we sealed up and our playground is all of WA....

The regional tourist places that rely on overseas tourist are super busy catering for the locals that can't travel overseas....so it's seems to be a win win here.....

Well given the survivability %'s from the CDC, maybe everyone aged 70 and up needs to be locked down and should be required to strictly self isolate no exceptions. The rest of the world can go on about life and and when and if a vaccine is ready then they can be vaccinated and come out of lock down. And just think it'll save even more people since seniors account for about 80% of all flu deaths as well. It's really a win win situation and for their own good.
