They are using a Chinese vaccination, but the trouble seems to be the very low protection given by just having ONE shot.

Quote A study published by the University of Chile last week (in Spanish) looked at the level of protection the vaccine offered after the first and the second doses.

It suggested CoronaVac was 56.5% effective in protecting people against infection two weeks after they had received their second dose, but the figure was only 3% in the timespan between the first and second doses.

This may give a key clue as to why cases may still be on the rise in Chile, where more than 7.6 million people have received the first jab, but the number of those who have had both the first and second doses is much lower.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_in_Chile#March_2 or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_in_Chile#March_2 ;29 March: The Institute of Public Health confirms cases of community transmission of the Lineage B.1.1.7 (British) and Lineage P.1 (Brazilian) variants of COVID-19, and the first cases of the B.1.525 and B.1.526 variants have been detected in tourists arriving to the country.

DJ-It would be good to have numbers on what level of protection vaccines can give against what variants...Suppose the Chinese vaccines offer good protection on the longer term-but not against some variants in short term-one could use other vaccines in a crisis and use the Chinese ones in countries with low numbers where long term protection is the goal...

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
