Quote chairwoman Dame Meg Hillier said: "With eye-watering sums of money spent on Covid measures so far, the government needs to be clear, now, how this will be managed going forward, and over what period of time."

This does not cover the costs of caring for those suffering from Long Covid, So if all transmission is stopped tomorrow (and we know it won't be) people will be paying for this outbreak long after I am dead (and I hope to live for another 20 or so years).
