I find myself looking back at NYC's Delta "bump" and wondering if we will experience a surge from Omicron.

So much is unknown about Omicron and we won't know anything for weeks yet.  I think it is safe to say that Omicron is more infectious than Delta, but even early reports don't convince me that vaccine is effective against Omicron or that the vaccine leaves one less likely vulnerable to serious illness.

I'm not fully convinced we're getting the full truth out of SA.  Much like we will never get the full truth out of China.  SA did the right thing by raising the flag, but it left them closed off to travel  and shipping with many countries. Hopefully, that won't last long.  Yet, I can't shake SA's messaging that Omicron hasn't shown itself to be more virulent and then reading their hospitalizations have gone to 60,000 a day.  Considering the history of Covid is to make all out attacks on the body more than a week after infection, it's among the things we just won't know about for weeks yet.

Just in time for Christmas.

I agree just in time for Christmas!

Here in Northern Ireland we have no cases but the Health minister has admitted it may already be here. As of yet no restrictions and I would guess a lock down after Christmas.

Ireland had their first case on Wednesday and restrictions have  started already...

It worked perfectly, Smile!  Good job!

I don't know about your gov't, but here in the U.S. they're not planning lock-downs.  I believe the Federal will leave it up to the States.  Nothing in the works here in NY, but that doesn't mean things will fail to change if Omicron hits hard.

Haha thank you :-)

I believe we will be not far behind Ireland soon. Tho they will try to hang on till after Christmas I suspect. Here is such a tiny place that things could go badly very quickly especially with hospitals.

Only time will tell :-)

There is a member on here called arirish. Been on here for years.

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.
