I read this article in the UK's Daily Mail today and thought are they preparing us for the next pandemic that they are intending to release?

I am hoping no one is stupid enough to release that because they wouldn't be able to even protect themselves or people they love from it!

All we need is some sad disenfranchised person who would like to see chaos unleashed and everyone else reduced to misery, and hey presto! we have a global disaster. If someone does intentionally release it, it will be someone who doesn't have anyone in their life to protect.

Valid point and unfortunately, you find a lot of loners in the labs so in reality it could happen!  Scary!

H5N1 is allready a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzootic or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzootic ;

panzootic (from Greek παν pan all + ζόιον zoion animal) is an epizootic (an outbreak of an infectious disease of animals) that spreads across a large region (for example a continent), or even worldwide. The equivalent in human populations is called a pandemic.

A panzootic can start when three conditions have been met:

 • the emergence of a disease new to the population.
 • the agent infects a species and causes serious illness.
 • the agent spreads easily and sustainably among animals.

A disease or condition is not a panzootic merely because it is widespread or kills a large number of animals; it must also be infectious. For example, cancer is responsible for a large number of deaths but is not considered a panzootic because the disease is, generally speaking, not infectious. Unlike an epizootic, a panzootic covers all or nearly all species over a large surface area (ex. rabies, anthrax). Typically an enzootic or an epizootic, or their cause, may act as a potential preparatory factor .[

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_epidemics or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_epidemics history is full of pandemics...no labs-or loners- needed....
