I am new to this forum so I'm sorry if this has already been discussed. I live in northern Illinois and we have alot of geese in my neighborhood. Will the geese start dying from the bird flu or are they carriers? Should we be very careful about removing shoes b/4 entering our homes? I know the virus can be spread in poultry droppings? Thanks

HI Ruth - yes geese can carry the flu and also die from it. I wouldn't worry yet - not until the flu hits the US. We live on a golf course and have hundreds of geese hanging around on it during winter months so when avian flu hits this country I will be very careful with pets, etc.
