I'm lurking. I can't really add much to what I said earlier. No news, no panic.
It takes roughly forty eight hours for a rumour to cover the entire U.K. by old fashioned word of mouth. I haven't heard anything, nor do I expect to. |

Luck? You aren't really taking this seriously are you?
I'll take the luck anyway and be most grateful for it. I may need it later. If anyone is interested the ebola virus has been spotted at heathrow airport dozens of times in the last few years. There probably isn't a virus known to man that can't be found somewhere in heathrow airport. An outbreak of Ebola might be cause for concern but it would not lead to a pandemic. If it turns out to be B2H or even H2H it still wouldn't be a problem. The pandemic, if there is to be one, will be from a virus that has not yet emerged. You will not need to speculate about its possible emergence. It will be right there in your face and mine. |

Diane, Whey dont you get hubby a pack of good quality masks for himself and his colleagues. You might also get some packs of the simpler variety which just reduce spread from infected people. Then they could be given to any sick passengers. And a pack of gloves. Then if he gets shut up with a lot of sick people he'd have the means of reducing the germs they were breathing out, as well as what he himself breathed in. Beth
PS I'm not really bothered about the ebola virus. I know its nasty but I wasn't awaare that it caused any kind of epicemic. Correct me if I'm wrong. Beth

Without checking the figures I would expect that the normal winter flu virus kills more people in a single season than ebola has done in the past two decades.
It may well be a terrible virus but judged against pandemic flu it simply isn't in the same league. |

Initial Symptoms Bird Flu Most patients have initial symptoms of high fever (typically a temperature of more than 38°C) and an influenza-like illness with lower respiratory tract symptoms1 (Table 3). Upper respiratory tract symptoms are present only sometimes. Unlike patients with infections caused by avian influenza A (H7) viruses,23 patients with avian influenza A (H5N1) rarely have conjunctivitis. Diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, pleuritic pain, and bleeding from the nose and gums have also been reported early in the course of illness in some patients.14,15,16,24 Watery diarrhea without blood or inflammatory changes appears to be more common than in influenza due to human viruses25 and may precede respiratory manifestations by up to one week.12 One report described two patients who presented with an encephalopathic illness and diarrhea without apparent respiratory symptoms I sure wish they would let us know what caused that poor woman's death

I also think they know. By now they should have ruled out many contagious diseases. I just don't understand how they were able to keep it under wraps so long. With all those people on the plane. Plus in a few days someone else may get sick, then what?

but the majority of people are blind to this and will soon be blind-sided by this. I tell people and they go into this almost shocky denial state. I have also noticed a good deal more short temperedness.

sorry, i should of finished my thought...I think the light is starting to go on for some people and they really don't know what to do. The wheels are spinning and the engine is reving for some weird panic effects.

I cannot imagine how difficult it will be for these people to "wake up" to this at this point in time. They will have to go through all of the adjustment phases PDQ to remain functional mentally. I pray that I may be a healer because we are going to need some miracles here.

It is incredible that we aren't hearing anything, but not really. If they say anything besides ABBF, then they have to deal with that situation, and I don't think any country wants to admit that they have a problem. Seems like with all the great detectives on this forum that we should come up with some new info on this...

My guess would be that if it were contagious, the other people on the plane would be getting sick by now. It's been about 5 days.

Sapphire: I don't think there is anything to silence, that is the problem. People have become so insular that they only see what is in their line of focus. It's tough to pull them out of it.
I am sorry if this offends some people, that is not my intention, but the only thing I can relate this to is trying to wake people up from their spiritual slumber to the fact that Jesus was resurrected and He lives. I am sure others who have a broader life experience base than I do and they can relate this to more varied experiences but that's all I have. When I try to tell people about both concepts it is like they get a dazed look, their eyes gloss over and the conversation just doesn't go anywhere. It is frustrating because in both instances I am just trying to throw them a lifeline to salvation, one spiritual the other physical. It hurts when people don't grab the rope. I am also seeing a lot of apathy out there. There are no guarantees for any of us but some I talk to are just hopeless about what they can do, they are overwhelmed. |

Aside from the poor woman who died, what I find most inexcusable and frightening is that the other people on the plane and the crew were allowed to leave! No matter if she had bird flu, or any one of the many contagious diseases, precautions should have been taken.
Does anyone have a contact in Britain with the airlines? or any way to get a look at the passenger list on that flight? I would be interested to hear some of their accounts. |

but they said it was not ebola. so can rule that out, i think. it's the fever, and bleeding that concerns me. maybe we will never know and it's time to move on--aferall, we do have a possible panflu to prep for. but the silence is odd.
