This is pretty much as we expected it would be. Lies, lies and more lies. This particularily makes me angry because of all the numerous pre existing conditions in my family.

What makes me sadder is that I know Dr.s, nurses, teachers and administrators that are being complient in this ruse.  I tend to think that this virus has to be more mild then we know, because they could not keep this a secret for long, people would be dropping dead like flies. The anger and outrage if anyone could muster the strength would be beyond the governments control and the teachers and the locals have been outed.  I think this is going to be dangerous to a about 15% with certain pre-existing conditions, as they have said all along. I  guess those people are worth the sacrafice to maintain the calm. The only problem is, if this thing shifts, and the nation realizes they have been lied to once, who will be dumb enough to believe they wont do it again??

Just last night, I sat feeling guilty for pulling my twelve year old son who has asthma and a partially dead lung from being on a vent too long when he was born, out of school.  In a family I have of twelve including the inlaws, nine of us have these pre-existing conditions of one type or another. Isnt it grand to find out my Dr., my kids teachers, the principles, the administrators and the nurses have all enterted into this conspiracy to keep the truth covered up.

My H1N1 Story: Government Run Health Scare

For months the Obama administration has been working to scare the hell out of every American concerning a “world wide pandemic” of the H1N1 “swine flu” virus. This week, Obama health officials are out in number warning that the virus will infect 50% of Americans over the coming weeks, and that at least 90,000 Americans will die, double the number of normal flu season fatalities.

The information on the subject has been lies covered up with more lies and wrapped in an enigma of scattered half-truths and intentional misdirection from our fools in government. The incredibly poor handling of the matter leads one to wonder if the whole mess isn't by intent...

My Personal Experience

A little over three weeks ago, my kids returned to school. A week after school started, we received an automated phone call from the school board notifying parents that the H1N1 flu had already shown up in the school district, but no specific schools in the county were named.

We asked our local school officials who advised that they knew of no outbreak at our local schools.

Last week, our son tried to help one of his friends who had taken ill on the bus ride to school, and was vomiting by the time he arrived at school. A few days later, our son was not feeling well and by Sunday, he was running a fever and in bed.

Monday, he was diagnosed with H1N1 “swine flu” by our family doctor and put on Tamiflu. He is managing just fine at present. But this is where the story gets very interesting.

According to the doctor, a patient is most contagious for 72 hours BEFORE any symptoms show, during which time the patient will continue on with life as usual, while unknowingly spreading the virus.

The doctor stated that her office has seen approximately 25 confirmed cases in the few days before seeing our son, from the same school. My wife asked why parents had not been notified and what the doctor said next was shocking...

ALL school boards and administrators have been issued a “hush notice” by the government, in which they are ordered NOT to make any “school specific” announcements concerning an outbreak of H1N1.

We then called the school principle and asked how many kids were out sick. On Monday, the principle stated that our son was only the second case he knew about. However, other lower level school officials had a different take on the matter, stating that a rapidly growing numbers of kids were leaving school sick.

Wednesday morning, our daughter woke up ill as well, and was immediately put on Tamiflu. Again we spoke to the school principles who still claimed to have no idea how many cases might be in the school, even though more than 30 kids were now missing from class and 17 High School teachers were already out with H1N1....

I have since talked two with school teachers in our extended family and in two other parts of the country, and they both immediately confirmed that a “gag order” from the government was in affect nationwide. By the time any “school specific” announcements are made, the school will be closed and many will be infected.

Despite the fact that the World Health Organization and the Federal Government have been all over the TV screen trying to create a panic over a swine flu pandemic for months now, the reason given for the “gag order” among schools and doctors is, so as not to create any “public panic.”

Bottom line, the government plan is to keep healthy kids in school with children already infected and spreading the disease until they show symptoms, at which time they are booted from school for a week. But the infection has already been passed...

Our H1N1 Experience

It is not bacterial, but a virus and it is air-born. So you can wash your hands all you want and it won't avoid the virus.

In short, if you breathe air with someone exposed to the virus but not yet showing symptoms, you are almost certain to contract the virus. But you will not show symptoms for 3 to 5 days after exposure, during which time you will infect many others.

This explains why Federal health officials are on TV in force this week projecting that 50% of all Americans will be infected and an estimated 100,000 will die over the coming “flu season.”

Since the government is silent on letting parents know which schools are infected, parents will continue sending healthy children to class until they come home sick. On this basis, the 50% infected and 100,000 dead might be understated, as they are making NO serious attempt to stop the spread of the virus.

Suggesting that the government is in any way serious about stopping the spread of H1N1 is akin to suggesting they are serious about stopping the next 9/11 while refusing to close the borders.

Our current administration is one of two things... a) Completely incompetent, or b) Completely complicit in the H1N1 pandemic. There is NO other way to read their actions, or lack thereof.

Now the Good News

It ain't easy to get Americans to vote for socialism. The natural public disgust with the mere idea that the Fed can somehow deliver better medicine than the medical profession is a clear signal that average Americans ain't buying the Marxist horse manure pumping out of Washington DC leftists today.

So, a medical emergency that will throw every household into panic and financial stress could be helpful to the failing pursuit of socialized medicine among Democratic Socialists in charge of DC. I'm just sayin'..... How convenient.

However, so far, our personal experience is that the flu behaves no better or worse than any other set of flu symptoms. Obviously, good health habits and immediate attention go a long way towards managing any illness, including the flu.

So far, H1N1 seems to be no exception. Both of our kids are managing the illness much like any other flu. Neither my wife nor I are showing any symptoms yet, though I'm sure the likelihood is quite high, as we care for our two children, both of whom are ill.

In case you are wondering why public estimates range all over the board on the matter, I can now answer that question from first hand experience...

90% of H1N1 diagnosis stops at the local doctor's office. Less than 10% of the cases confirmed by your local health care provider are ever shipped to the CDC for further official government confirmation.

But the government usually reports only the number of cases confirmed by the CDC. As a result, the real number of cases is actually TEN TIMES that being reported by the Fed or their adoring left wing press.

And, since we wouldn't want to create a panic by giving parents information they have a right and a need to know, that number will continue to explode beyond all estimates offered.

The number already infected is more than ten times the number reported. Schools and doctors have been ordered NOT to release the name of schools showing an outbreak. Kids are not removed from school until they are showing symptoms, which is after they have already infected others for a few days, guaranteeing that the virus will continue to spread.

Conclusion

H1N1 may not be as lethal as reported, but your government is far more dangerous than you previously thought.

Are they stupid, or are they evil? They are one of the two or both. You decide...

As for me, it doesn't really matter because the outcome is the same. A government bankrupted out of gross ignorance is no less bankrupt and an innocent citizen dead due to government ignorance is no less dead.

Be aware... But don't be afraid!

I have lived under the belief that stupid policies are designed for stupid people, and therefore, they don't apply to me.

I wanted the American people to have the information their government doesn't want them to have. Do what you think best with this information!

I don't quite understand the premise of the article. It begins by saying the government is overstating things to scare us, then it switches to the government not telling us enough to keep us complacent. Seems as though someone has a political ax to grind and decided to use a poorly written article on pandemic flu as a vehicle for it. I'm confused as to what the author is trying to say.

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. No one really knows the whole truth. Our county health dept. web site was keeping us informed on local case numbers. All of a sudden (about 2 weeks ago) they stopped posting numbers. This they stated was requested by CDC and WHO. This way they dont have to lie. My husband has been sub teaching for 9 years and I told him no more {we both have pre-existing health conditions).

Be aware... But don't be afraid!

I took this to mean that the government is telling us some facts hyped and then other things they know are being hidden. They are putting schools under a gag order to not tell parents the true number of cases they are seeing. Therefore the parents can not make a informed choice whether or not to send their children to school, they send them and they get sick. If they are lucky as the authors kids seem to be that is fine, if not if they have asthma or diabetes they may not fare so well, the government knows that, but evidentely for whatever reason, be it panic or be it financial with people missing work to stay home and take care of sick kids and not being productive the government is not letting people make choices based on the whole truth and nothing but the truth.  Hyping the flu sells a lot of stuff including vaccines,  playing it down has a lot of effects like keeping the kids in school and the parents at work stimulating the economy. I think that the parent that wrote this article is as confused as I am, one minute one thing next time I check the computer a whole different story. Give me the straight facts lets go from there. I personally believe that for the most part they have a pretty good idea who is not going to fair well with this flu. The sticky fly in the ointment is every now again a perfectly healthy person succumbs but they do not want to panic the people because most people would not want to take the risk that they or their kid was the perfectly healthy one to die, so they will sacrifice them along with the pre-existing conditon folks who they know wont fare well for the greater good. No one can say they didnt warn us, but did they, then they did, then they didnt, then they did.

I agree that we're being told what they (meaning the government, CDC, WHO, etc) wants us to hear, but the article jumped around too much for me. It seemed political as opposed to informative. JMHO.
I believe that the powers that be know that widespread absenteeism - either from sickness or staying home with the kids - will knock our economy on it's butt and we'll slide into a depression if it's bad enough. No stimulus package will get us out of this one in a hurry if society gets the rug pulled out from under it in a big way should the second wave turn out to be the one that packs the most serious punch. In my opinion it's still too early to relax. On the surface today's outbreak and 1918 appear to be to mirroring each other way too closely to discount anything yet - a mild first wave of infection from a novel H1N1 virus in the spring with reports of more serious illness in young healthy adults as the onset of the second wave gets closer just as aptly describes the situation now as it would have done in the summer of 1918. We haven't seen this virus do anything yet that Spanish Flu did differently, and although I still suspect (and hope) that at worst it'll stay a big infecter and not a big killer, I don't think we should base our preparations on that. Not when the lives of our loved ones could be the price we pay for being overly optimistic.
When we went to level 6 I told the principal at my kid's school (he hadn't heard as it had just been announced earlier that day) and he gave me the usual line about it being nothing to worry about, etc. That was a few months ago, and I got the distinct impression that he was not only telling me what he thought I needed to hear as a concerned parent, but also what he genuinely believed at the time. He came across like the coworkers and family we talk to that think we're alarmist nuts - I'm sure we all know how that feels. I'll have to tackle him again and see what kind of vibe I get this time.
I just wish they wouldn't keep flip-flopping on this one - the general public will invariably latch on to the "truth" that  they want to hear and ignore the rest. When it was 24/7 on CNN there was concern, if not mild panic, but when they came out and said it was only producing mild symptoms, any chance to get people to prep was blown out of the water. Now all I hear is "36,000 people die from seasonal flu" and I realize that nothing but the grim reality of a cat 2 pandemic second wave in their neighborhood is going to get people of their butts - by which time it will be too late. Forget hand sanitizer and masks - food, meds and other essentials will be flying off the shelves faster than our just in time system can replenish them from other countries/states ravaged by the flu. Keep prepping, and keep quiet about it. Now is not the time to let people know you were smart enough to stock up, especially when you know they're not getting ready. I finally got a coworker (who's been throwing the "36,000 people..seasonal flu..blah, blah" quote at me for months) to admit that it wasn't looking good for the fall. His response to my advice that he at least stock two weeks of food and water for his family?"Not even hard core survivalists can do that". Uh? Suffice to say, I have officially given up on him...

The virus has a mind of its own, and we are seeing sick people and crowded ERs.  I have had some SAD conversations with doctors and others that are withdrawing from warning people anymore and going into SIP.

The reality is that concern is not going to speed up the vaccine, make less people get sick, or can the flu really be used politically except that it is one terrific diversion from other problems. It is a matter of triage. We need to focus on the reality of a nasty spreading flu as opposed to the nuances of politics and faces.

You want to know what? I don't buy the scare stuff. I think after Katrina .gov cannot afford to mess up. I think they are on this totally as much as they can be and will give a lot of resources to the people as well as themselves.

.gov scare is worry above threats that have not caused any damage in seven years as opposed to something that could take out one out of fifty (this is 2% CFR and I just posted from CDC a few days ago a .9% global count- 185,000 cases about and 1800 deaths (approx) - that is 1%.

1918 was 2.5% in places.

Even one in fifty we can handle.

If remains to be seen, and I for one would glad to be totally wrong in estimating this will be a serious Pandemic. However, look at how early it is and how high the infection rates are.

.gov is VERY concerned about this. They do have lives you know, and are very mortal, and there comes a time when politics should take a back burner to getting prepared.

As of today- I am seeing a really unusual thing- we are on the same page.

I agree Med. I'm seeing a change in the tone of the official sites. Much more transparency, and much more emphasis on prepping for a longer SIP than the 72 hours which use to be the norm. Flu.gov is now talking about two weeks, and even broaching the subject of disruptions to water supplies. I think the reality of 40% and up absenteeism is starting to strike a chord, especially with the economy just beginning to climb out of a hole.

very quiet here... not a lot of illness.  Don't expect to see a lot until the kids have been in school a few weeks... watching Oct. ...height of illness from previous pandemics is Oct.15.
as a general combined figure for the nation.

yes... the info in that post is nothing new..just the  'gag order'

There is no way to handle such a highly infective virus if the schools are opening and

closing...they want to let the virus naturally burn through all the kids and be done with it.

People with underlying conditions may want to stay home .. in order to avoid illness people

have to be extreme and hide out for how long?  Perhaps until the vaccine is ready?

If people do not want a vaccine they would have to live like total hermits until next

summer?  It isn't very practical.

.......................................................................

Check this out...   This is as dangerous or more so...  imagine coinfection?

There is no vaccine.   Some people get this and a flu at the same time... not good.

We can't fear all this ...there is too much out there.   We would go nuts.

Better to focus on a healthy life style.
...........................................................................

Mystery Infection ...can you name it?

continued at... Now at level 6

Debra, please do not accuse me of lying. That article came from a website we all use often called "News Now Birdflu" which has now pretty much been taken over by Swine flu.
http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Hot+Topics/Bird+Flu that would be the link to the site.

I am not certain why my post is being held to such a high level of scrutiny after all I am hardly the first one to post something with a political sound, right Mary. Even if it is not news.  About half of America likes Obama and the other half does not.

That however did not have a thing to do with my posting of the article the purpose of the article for the second time now, was to show you the frustration that a parent felt who was being told one thing by the news, another by the school, and another by the Dr.  The parent does not like Obama that is plain, however guess what, in America we can post things about our leaders if we do not like them.  Just because the author of that article does not like Obama does not mean he does not have the right to post what he experinced with his two kids. Whether he writes a political blog or not I do not know, I dont read them (political blogs) and I do not investigate every writer that I post, nor do many on this board investigate the authors of the articles.

Debra, you do realize that Obamas middle name that HE chose for himself is Hussein, that was not his birth name, his birth name was Barry Soretto. That was his given name at birth and as a adult he choose Barack  Hussein Obama. How is the author using Obamas own self chosen middle name offensive ? Is that not what he chose to name himself? If so, then why would  it be offenisve or rightest?

 debracanice says:
Not a news story but a political blog
again posting anything as news
who are the sources
article even conflicts with itself
it might as well say bad Ombama
as a Canandain I will say that one thing we dont do
mix up who is to blame
you guys are so emotional and will beleive the stupidest crap without even critiquing it
still its one step from a blog
A medical article written by a politician  spare me   debracanice
The news is to show that parens are not being told by their schools how many cases of swine flu are in the schools. Get past the Obama stuff, I do not feel comfortable going into someone elses writing and removing anything. So I printed the article as it stood, to show the frustration that parents such as the author and myself feel about all the conflicting information. I also was shocked to hear that the government had told the schools to not share information such as case numbers and which schools were having heavy outbreaks. I believe in transparency so that the parents make that choice for their kids, not the politicians no matter what party.  I wanted those of us who are parents to beware of the fact or possibility that our schools may not be telling us as it is. That is vitally important to people with pre existing conditions and their families. I can not understand how people can not get that. Those of us who are old posters here are not the only ones who view these articles. Schools are opening all over. I felt this article was important that parents see, forgive me for boring you with old information, I had not heard that the schools were told to lie though myself, so that was news to me.

AS far as you Canadians go, I have plenty of documented articles where you disagree with each other over how to handle this virus also. Do not be so naive as to think your country is withoiut people who have differing views.

You Debra say that my posting that article lowers the standards of this website

"You do understand that this is just a polictal article , the other articles refer to Obama as Hussain Obama

I find that comical considering you say this about all Americans in general or at least people on this site   debracanice
"you guys are so emotional and will beleive the stupidest crap without even critiquing it
still its one step from a blog "  you just insulted a entire country but your post does not lower the standards of this site ????? LOL thankfully I do not judge all Canadians by the actions and words of a few. That is so uncompassionate. LOL

But on that note, I will post for you some Canadians who actually Gosh, disagree with each other and what to do, in regard to what type of vaccine to use.

The federal government's vaccination strategy to fight the swine flu pandemic is flawed, says a new editorial published on Monday in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.

OTTAWA — The Harper government has little time left to revisit its swine flu plan and fix the flaws that could leave high-risk groups unprotected from the H1N1 virus pandemic, says a new editorial published on Monday in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.

The existing federal strategy calls for testing and distribution of a modified vaccine for the entire population, but the editorial warned that a different approach must be adopted to "fast-track" vaccinations for the most vulnerable Canadians.

"Given current evidence, it seems (the government's approach represents) a poorer choice than providing coverage to high-risk groups as early as possible," said the article, written by Dr. Paul Hebert, the CMAJ editor-in-chief, and Dr. Noni MacDonald, the public health section editor. "Time is running out."

Pregnant women, people with underlying medical conditions and other groups at risk could be forced to wait until mid-November before getting the vaccine, several weeks behind their counterparts from other countries, said the editorial. But it noted that other major countries, including the United States, Australia and members of the European Union, have adopted plans to license the vaccine more quickly for groups at risk of having serious complications from the H1N1 virus.

"Health Canada seems to have forgotten that while being first with a plan is good, being fast to vaccinate will save lives," said the editorial.

Health Canada's plan calls for everyone to be vaccinated through the development of a formula that mixes the standard vaccine with a substance called an adjuvant, which boosts the immune system of the person who receives it. The modified vaccine would only require one-quarter of the dose of the antigen, which as a result would increase the stockpile for vaccinations.

A spokesperson for Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq referred questions to the Public Health Agency of Canada, which e-mailed a statement to Canwest News Service dismissing the criticism from the editorial.

"Canada has a highly flexible regulatory plan on pandemic vaccine approval that can be swiftly adjusted to meet public health needs," said the e-mail. "Thanks to the advance regulatory planning that has been central to our plan, Health Canada will be in a position to speedily approve an adjuvanted or a non-adjuvanted pandemic vaccine as soon as one becomes available and a public health decision has been made to use one, the other, or both."

The agency also said in the e-mail that it would not take longer to approve an adjuvanted vaccine.

But the editorial suggested that a modified vaccine would require several weeks of testing after the standard vaccine was expected to be available, and that this would prevent Health Canada from immunizing vulnerable populations in time.

"Only by providing fast-track standard vaccine might high-risk groups be protected in a timely way, while the general public awaits arrival of the (modified) adjuvant vaccine," said the editorial. "A vaccine is needed for a variety of high-risk individuals, and the earlier it is used, the greater the chance to protect them before the epidemic season peaks. This will reduce the burden on hospitals and scarce intensive care spaces."

In an interview, Hebert said that Canada should follow the lead of other countries that are focusing on the high-risk groups with a standard vaccine before developing the modified vaccine for the rest of their populations.

An expert panel also recommended prioritizing the high-risk groups in a report recently delivered to the U.S. government, he added.

"Pretty much everybody wants a vaccine quickly, but they want it to be safe, of course," said Hebert. "No one wants the safety to be compromised. They just want a rapid review process. What we're suggesting here (in the editorial) is a way to do that."

He said there's a risk of not having enough of the vaccines for the general population if the government adopts the fast-track approach for vulnerable groups. But he said the government's plan should reflect that the H1N1 virus doesn't present the same risk to everyone.

" A medical article written by a politician spare me" < Debra   Debbie>  Evidently JB is not a potician but a political writter and from Canada. If you do not like him, save your hate for him or write him, I had no idea who he was, I simply copied his story because he was a father with two kids as you Candians seem to verify.  Again, who wants their own posts held to this kind of scrutiny??  Let me know, because I myself have reached my threshhold on being criticized for having the audacity to post this. As you can see I can investigate articles and will happily do so to anyone who thinks that is the way we should run the forum by name calling and using the poorest of manners in responce to a forum poster. Let me know.

Am I the only one who understands what a true news story is
I think this forum needs a blog post category  news , general , blogs ,

You have a point Debra and the devil is in the details. Meaning- just like doing an interrogation- the third time through the story things begin to show up that aren't consistent.  Conspiracy runs rampant on the internet and despite that .gov is very split up and very in house competitive and squabble there are not a lot of cloaked figures covering everything up.

Sorry Deb- I have worked with reporters, real ones a long time and there are no true news stories that are not open to question. We had a guy in San Francisco Chronicle reporting a riot on an intersection where a guy and I were parked at and nothing was happening there. Also from Nob Hill on a radio station - same story- blood and carnage.

We called up and said- hey we are here. It's just snarled traffic and a lot of hills. Nothing happening. This was the same station with the weatherman broadcasting clear skies through the morning and we called him by cell and said look outside guy- it pouring down rain.

He said- well this is what they gave me to read. I don't improvise, I just read the prompter.  .

The schools don't want to close down because mommies don't want to come home and lose work and teachers don't want to lose money and they just don't want to close the schools. So they are going to sit on a lot of flu ridden students which would close the school.

News reporters can be very inventive and no one checks them out. Real news huh- bought and paid for - program director what we wanna carry and what will not hurt our sponsors.

No need to slam the bloggers. We have people in real high places that have truth issues.

Your right a little too attacking
but Its not a news story but then you did post it in general
still I think there is a need for a blog thread

I do attack articles when the author over steps their abilities . It is a political article this guy is not qualified for his opionin to matter
The internet has spawned these type of articles .

Still the article first said its not bad then it was bad , he wavered in the article
a high school teacher would of caught that and asked him to rewrite it . Your being lied to its not as bad as they say , no it worse than they say they are hiding facts from you
my high school teaher would of said name sources dont conflict yourself

its a blog , a blog is just some guy writing what he thinks.
some blogs are written with sourses and by people who are qualified to write about what they are writing , this guy does not give a reason why he is qualified to speak on the subject .

Still he is just a guy , I dont read news articles to hear the guy said this and the guy sadi that  The guy is a professional no body . Ok he is a Canadian , .

As far as blogs go , yes you may run into people who are qualified to write a blog and share imformation , still those would be well written and supply usefull imformation and
most blogs just string together articles written by somebody else . , just a bunch of quotes

Hear it is . We Canadains think you guys take yourselves to seriously
sharing sterotypes . and you think we are too liberal , some of us are

I cant imagine listening to a speak form the Prime MInister unless its a budget speak
once a year .   We havent cared about what the first lady is wearing since Margret Trudeau

Still I didnt know that was Obama last name ,
