WASHINGTON NEWSWhite House: Economy Fundamentally "Sound"In contrast to their criticism of rosy assessments of the state of the economy during the presidential campaign, top economic aides on Sunday gave what media reports see as an "optimistic" reading of the economy. The AP notes that during the 2008 campaign, Barack Obama "relentlessly criticized his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain, for declaring, 'The fundamentals of our economy are strong.' Obama's team painted the veteran senator as out of touch and failing to grasp the challenges facing the country." But on Sunday, "that optimistic message came from economic adviser Christina Romer." On NBC's Meet The Press, Romer said, "Of course the fundamentals are sound in the sense that the American workers are sound, we have a good capital stock, we have good technology." The Wall Street Journal reports top White House aides "again urged patience on government measures aimed at bolstering the economy and unclogging credit markets, and noted that the economy was showing a few hopeful signs." On ABC's This Week, Obama aide Lawrence Summers said, "Clearly, the fact that consumer spending was like a ball falling off a table through the holiday season, and that there does seem to be some sign of stability in January and February is better than if that were not the case. But we've got an economy that's losing 600,000 jobs a month. That's probably not going to stop imminently." comment: Who we must carry on for and why we must never lose hope.My daddy read me this poem and I don't quite understand it. I know no matter what happens my daddy and mommy love me and will take care of me and never never lose hope. My daddy taught me two new words today. The first time I ever said them and he seemed sad but happy and I will remember the two words and I will say them again... Thank God .... little Skye son of Medclinician - now two years old http://tinyurl.com/c2nm78 by ) They sailed. They sailed. Then spake the mate: "This mad sea shows his teeth tonight. He curls his lip, he lies in wait, He lifts his teeth, as if to bite! Brave Adm'r'l, say but one good word: What shall we do when hope is gone?" The words leapt like a leaping sword: "Sail on, sail on, sail on, and on!" Then pale and worn, he paced the deck, And peered through darkness. Ah, that night Of all dark nights! And then a speck— A light! A light! At last a light! It grew, a starlit flag unfurled! It grew to be Time's burst of dawn. He gained a world; he gave that world Its grandest lesson: On! sail on!" Franklin D. Roosevelt succeeded in bringing the United States out of the Great Depression. In addition, he lead the United States to victory in World War II.
To quote Franklin D. Roosevelt,
Below are words of wisdom in the form of inspirational quotes and motivational quotes by Franklin D. Roosevelt :
When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.
The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.
If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.
Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.
To reach a port, we must sail - sail, not tie at anchor - sail, not drift.
Comment: It is not to say we will not be faced with great challenges. Every day those of us who are disabled, elderly, in pain, or take care of such people realize that life from the moment we take our first breath is a challenge. It is truly better to light one candle than to curse the darkness, or point fingers, or cast blame. In the heat of battle nothing is more pointless than to wonder why we are in the fight, but rather to draw upon every resource, every ounce of physical and mental and spiritual courage to overcome overwhelming odd and win. It will not be an easy road. But my point is, that it is a road we must walk and survive for future generations in the our country and for those who will look back on the strong and courageous rather than those who grumbled in the darkness, who will be as dust in the wind and forgotten. We build with the bricks and mortar we have- While we cannot do miracles we can persevere and as an army fighting up a hill, foot by foot we must never give up. The mistakes made by those before us, have been made. Now it is up to us to rally behind our leaders and especially our president, and as in the Highlander, there is only one. We need courage, strength, and unity, and we need above all else, selflessness and sacrifice. As we will survive the Pandemic and live to see a time of greatness such has not been for a hundred years, so we will make it through this Recession or Depression - however bleak it might be. The voices we need are those with solutions and a foundation to build upon, no matter what rumble we may stand on - we must endure to make a better nation for our children, and our children's children. First signs of recovery?
A Wall St. Insider recently said... I just bought Citigroup at $1.30 (per share)
On another note...
I like this quote from Med's post-
To quote Franklin D. Roosevelt,
"It isn't sufficient just to want - you've got to ask yourself what you are going to do to get the things you want." ..............
So here is what we are doing
With the stimulus by state.
