Hello, im not really new to the forum, i have been a user here before during the H5n1 debates.
I have managed to prep, and so i have meds, water food, and Fine particle masks ready.

I should mention that im from denmark, we have to suspected cases here as of today, both are travellers that have just come from mexico.

I have warned family in texas, they knew nothing till i told them yesterday.

My dad has just been to mexico, houston and new orleans, he has come back to denmark today, and i have not seen him yet, he does however say he is feeling ill, which is a bit upsetting to me, however my family never seems to get alarmed about these things before its way to late.

Is this the firsl wave ? i mean its really spreding quickly.

One thing i find a bit funny, people say that its nothing to worry about cause its mild and no one outside mexico have died, my understanding is that in order for at pandemic to take hold the first wave needs to be mild, if it kills all i hosts it would never have th epossibility to spread this easyly, right ?

Also, like the h1n1 spanish flu of 1918, this one also seems to kill by cytokine storms in the lungs. (patients with strong imune system dies easier)

Thats all from denmark for now, looking forward for your comments and thoughts.

Take care, and be ready Clap

Welcome NEO by the White House news conference today they have said a second wave will come in 3 months. If this is anything like the 1918 Spanish Flu the second wave could be very deadly.

I pray that your father is ok.

If your family in the U.S. has Fox News or CNN on cable or dish they will hear about it there. Tell them to go there for information as well as the CDC website.

lets go retro and see the results now think it hasnt killed any in the usa yet ,kinda fits A

http://grantlawrence.blogspot.com/2009/04/spanish-flu-of-1918-1919-killed-nearly.html
Late in the spring of 1918 the Spanish wire service Agencia Fabra sent cables of an unusual nature to Reuter's news service headquarters in London. "A strange form of disease of epidemic character has appeared in Madrid," it said. "The epidemic is of a mild nature, no deaths having been reported." The illness began with a cough, then headache and backache, fatigue, high fever, racing heart, loss of appetite and labored breathing. It usually lasted about three days. Cases had cropped up over the spring and summer in other countries, too, from Norway to India, China to Costa Rica. But in Spain, suddenly 8 million people were down with the bug. And as the summer of 1918 turned to fall, the epidemic lost its mildness: people started to die.

Hello Neo in Denmark.  Keep in touch with your dad by phone, in England they have family putting food on the doorstep.  He should not leave the house...according to what other countries are doing.  best wishes from USA.

Thanks for the replies, regarding my dad, om affraid he is very old school, he will never go to the doctor before he is so ill he cant walk. Smile He will go to work sick like he always does.
I can only keep away from them until he hopefully gets better.
I can only hope its h´just a common cold he has.
2 people are in hospital here en denmark, the test for one of them is negative for h1n1, the other test is not ready yet, which probably means its possitive, the government just does not want to start a panic.
Danes are very good at mass panic Big%20smile  its been seen before and its not pretty.

A third person has been isolated in hospital today, a young danish woman who has returned from mexico a week ago, she has had symptoms for two days, and has now been isolated in a special hospital ward, i fear its too late to contain this ! I mean 3 danes i hospital... still waiting for test result ??? these people could have given it to others, the incubation period is 48 hours, the real truth about this spread will be known in a few days or at least by the end of the week.
The danish government is doing absolutly nothing to prevent travellers from the us and mexico to enter the borders.
I think containment is not an option anymore, but lets see how it plays out during this week. And then we will know what we are dealing with here.

no offense but fox news is trash the only reason to watch that channel is to laugh at all the truly stupid morons who are on it..

Seriously they are the bottom of the barrel for timely uptodate information on what is really going on. If you want real news search the net or check out reuters.. Even though the BBC is a bit biased also they are way ahead of Fox etc.

No one knows how this is going to play out.  Will it be a three wave monster like 1918 or will it be more like the 1957 and 1968 pandemics? Or will it be a pandemic at all?  To many of us have been thinking about H5N1 for a very long time.  With a CFR of 67%, H5N1 looked like a real booger; potentially worse than 1918.  The Mexican Flu is a whole different animal.  Only time will tell.  Perhaps getting a mild case right now will afford some immunity later, if it gets really bad.

Hello from a fellow Dane (Well,a mixed mutt American Dane, hahaha)! My dad's family migrated from Denmark. I have many relatives over there currently, so I'll talk to my dad and see how they are doing.

Stay safe and be prepared. That's all you can do. Give them resources and let them know what to do to prepare. You can't force them to be careful or aware. That's my best advice.

Dad just came home from houston and a trip down to mexico. Symptoms startet on the plane from houston.
Well my dad, is sick ! he has all the flu symptoms, however ! he went to work today, he got sent home by angry co workers, now he is at home but he will go back to work tommorow i know he will, the next 48 hours will show  my mom has been infected.
He refuses to contact his doctor by phone, even though the news is telling sick people to do so...

I dont know what to do, i only hope he did not give it to anyone else and i also hope its not the dreaded swine flu... maybe he is just sick, right ?
