Jackie Chan films bird flu warning

Saturday, May 13 2006, 19:37 BST - by Dave West

Jackie Chan has filmed an advert warning children of the dangers of bird flu.

The kung fu star agreed to the public service film as part of his work as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

It sees him teaching a group of kids with a blue crane model made of paper.

Chan – who was last week named amongst the world's most generous celebrities – filmed the advert at a school in Hong Kong.

How wonderful! While we (most of us are not in any close proximity of chickens or wild birds) are all watching to see if this goes H2H etc. these kids are already is such danger, and do not know it. They play with chickens and live so close to them, it is great to see somebody is doing something to protect them. I am so happy this will educate them.

I know World Vision keeps this in mind too, since they have children often raise chickens as part of a project. But with the threat of the avian flu they have developed strategies to deal with that, and put the threat of BF even on their website.
