When shall we pull the kids out of school? We already made the decision to pull our 3 year old out of his two mornings a week nursery school -- for a variety of reasons, in addition to flu issues. But he's still going to the nursery at church on Sundays and the park. So, when do we cut off that kind of contact. What are folks plans? -- Libby |

Fortunately this is not an issue I will have to deal with. My one school aged neice is already homeschooled. |

Albert why the media black out or do you feel that there is one...and also I am located way north in Canada and when I pull the kids out will be when I hear of the first confirmed cause in USA or Canada..which I figure will hit more around March or April..when our migrating birds will start back...

3 days ago, they were having a shortage of ventiiators and things looked pretty bad. The number of suspected cases exploded up to around 50. Then the WHO shows up and we never hear anymore about additional cases or current patient conditions. Everything suddenly just stopped. How many are on ventilators? How many new cases in the last 2 days? They had 50 probable cases in 3 days. Should we assume it just stopped? It looked far from stopping during the explosion. Or is the explosion still continuing at this very moment? I believe it could be... If they had ANY good news to report, I think they would report it, IMO. If a lot of the 50 cases were not actually BF, I think they would be very quick to tell the public to defuse any sort of panic, but they're not doing that. I also think if it was at all under control, they would be quick to tell us. National ads have been launched telling us to prepare, more or less. Anyway, no update on current patient conditions in the last 2 days, plus, not one new reported case in the midst of the explosion. We were completely cut off from any new information. It seems like the WHO basically put a gag order on the doctors and staff. Anyway, we will know in a day or two either way. It will spread around the world in just mere days if it went h2h. I need to know if the explosion is still continuing. At the rate it was progressing, we would have over 100 cases by now. They never said the explosion stopped. They just stopped giving information.

Allbert....I
read that Iran has restricted movement along their borders. If
this wasn't that serious I doubt they would do that this soon.

Angel, while your point is cogent with regard to Iran closing border because of BF fear, I read it is probably in response to keeping Israeli spies from coming in and doing recon of their nuclear facilities and targeting intel. That's the fun of "reading between the lines" we all get to sit around wondering which WAG is correct. |

I pulled my daughter out Jan 1 06. But, that was my choice so that I can learn what she needs and how to do it, so that the adjustment would not be so hard. I did not want her to deal with homeschooling, missing her friends and a Pandemic to boot. This was just easier for her and I. GOOD LUCK! I have children in school, too. But you cannot just pull them out. You need to review your state's attendance policy and your school's exit policy. Absences, that you do not have a doctor's excuse for, are considered truancies. After so many truancies the school/state will actually prosecute the parents! You could get yourself into real trouble. The school's really stay on top of children's absences and the reasons why they are absent. I encourage everyone with children in school to find out the information regarding absences and/or taking your child out of school.
