How are we feeling about our packages and groceries now?  I am starting to get squeamish about bringing new things in at this point. I figure some things have been packaged for a while, so I can remove the packaging and /or sanitize and be relatively safe.  Some things I thought I would just leave in the garage until needed, and let potential virus just die.  The pucker factor is going up, though.

Discuss!

Wow, great find. Thanks for posting that.

I had been going off the data that suggested 9 days but 17 blows that figure out of the water. It's funny but I opened a package from China this morning because it was posted to me 12 days ago. I took precautions but still........

Those who got it wrong, for whatever reason, may feel defensive and retrench into a position that doesn’t accord with the facts.

I am using gloves to pick up my mail, put it in a big plastic bag, take it out of the bag, throw out the junk then leave it in the garage for a few days on my work bench.  Boxes and packages I do the same thing, I use gloves and put in the garage for a few days.  Just being careful, prudent when I am taking my time to SIP don't want to screw up on the stuff coming into my home.  Yes my butt is puckered too when I think about this stuff...LOL!

I read the linked study. NOWHERE did it state that the virus was active, survived or living. It stated RNA. . . .I feel it is a case of wildly misleading journalism. Would like experts to give their opinions.

I hope that is not the case I have been letting items sit for 3 days or so that I can like canned goods I purchase etc. but have not let items sit over 17 days. sanitize what I need to use sooner when it enters my house. Maybe need to sanitize everything even items sitting for a long time?  What are you all using  to sanitize? I have read of some disinfecting with vinegar but does it kill covid 19. I do also use vinegar in addition to bleach water.

I am using Everclear grain alcohol in a spray bottle for food.  It is 190 proof and 95 % alcohol by volume.  For cardboard, I am using clorox fabric sanitizer.  It's an aerosol spray with 66% alcohol and some other stuff.
