I wanted to inform people on this forum of what I have just seen. I purchased 80 N95 Masks from a EBay seller. I recieved my order of 80 today. I wanted to get another 80, and the price has gone up 20% in a week from the same seller.

If you want them, better get them now......the price is going only higher.Confused

Thanks bob.... I'm actually slightly surprised that you were able to get them.  My understanding was that institutional prepping was straining the supply line.

Great to know that they are still out there.

Bob--would it be rude of me to ask what you paid the first time?  No offense and maybe none of my biz-but might be helpful.

BE,
N95 is N95 is N95. The difference is in the design, nose area fit and if it has an exhaust port to reduce heat from exhalation. You may see N95 ratings on half-face and full-face respirators too.

Try to stay with well known companies like 3M. The manufacturer may not be able to sell to you directly, but they will refer you to an approved reseller. Just because a company sells 3M products it doesn't mean they are authorized to sell 3M products.

Do a Google search for "3M N95 Mask"
There seems to be a good supply of masks. With something as important as Prepping try to avoid auctions etc. Real manufacturers representative aren't going to jack prices just because there is an uptick in demand.

The virus enters through the eyes, nose/mouth and from eating under-cooked infected foods.

See www.cdc.gov and www.pandemicflu.gov for good information.

Try to avoid making decisions on unverified news or what your friend's relative over-heard. Most breaking news is innacurate.

Welcome to the Forum. You are among friends. Prep-On

Everyone has their own preference and ability to tolerate masks but I can tell you that 3M's 1860 and 1860S (small) are the most common ones used in our area in healthcare facilities and what my facility will use in the event of pandemic.  It is a tight fitting mask, but one I can tolerate better than several others we tried and I have only had 2 of approximately 200 folks fit-tested that could not be fitted for either the regular or small size so it is a good general fit.

Here, you all need to forget about the N95's and buy some real gear, NBC's ( Nuclear, Biological, Chemical, full face models) unless you just can't find them.

Also, learn how to suit up properly and do decontamination of your gear once you've been "out there".

Before you buy a mask do some reading on size where dealing with, 3M 1860/1860S IS NOT A N95 rated mask, but it is better rated for .08-.012 micron size of the particles of A/B FLU VIRUS,I could be wrong.check out this site or Google micron virus size.

It's part of the package.  All military issue is NBC.  Besides, I have a feeling it'll come in quite useful when contries go to hell and start nuking each other when everything falls apart and they figure out there will be no consequences...gieger counter and the N in NBC is going to go a long, long way.

you also have to take into fact as whether or not you'll be able to wear this mask for 8 hours.  In the Sars fiasco that was a problem for the medical teams.

In my opinion, the other countries are going to be too busy being sick  and helping  each other in any way, possible.  To nuke other countries.? Maybe it would be your extreme radical groups that would try this, however if they are able then the US& Canadian military will also be able to stop it.

Just 8?  Get real.  It may take 24-48 hours to get out of an area to somewhere it's safe to decon and get it off your head.  It's a no-brainer on this end.  I am surviving this, period.

The problem with the N95's is that you have to wear goggles as well as the mask.  The mask or  the goggles can slip or get bumped enough that you expose yourself, maybe without even knowing it, and go home and spread the infection to everyone you love and are trying to protect before you even know you are infectious.

Yes that is a terrible problem, but one facing our medical teams, and anyone else who is required to work, to keep the power on, gas heating, phones, basics.

All problems have solutions, this solution requires about $300.00 a pop.  Did I have a problem spending that to save my life, the lives of my children?  No.

It's pretty damn cheap insurance if you ask me.

TA, Great! Just when I think all of my preps are complete you inform me I am still missing MAJOR items! So 225 N95 masks and goggles about a buck a piece, now I learn I should have just spent a one time $300 NBC outfit. Could you hook me up to an internet site I could explore and work into the budget? Thanks TA for all of your contributions.

Annie, there's an outfit called Brigade Quartermaster, I am sure they have a website, just search google for it.   You might try some of your local or area Military surplus places.  And be sure to buy some extra replacement filter cartridges.

Ok, first of all on N95 mask. It is not an urban legend that N95 mask are all  the same as far as standard. some do have exhuast ports.

As a Fabricator( welder) I wear them all the time.
Welding exposes you to some very bad stuff and N95 or above is what you are suppose to be wearing. N95 mask are much cheaper at a welding supply store than at  something like Home Depot. You will find big boxes for less that what you will pay for a 2 or three pack.

I think that Thomas Angel is right about at least someone in the family having full NBC gear. If there is a big die off, foraging( not looting) will be something you are going to have to do to survive. and N95 will not be enough.

One thing I am wondering about is  spraying - soaking the mask in collodial silver solution to reuse them and to increase their effectiveness.
I know some people think collidial silver is stupid, but the top burn dressings have silver oxides in them, they make travel sock and underwear with silver in them that don't smell after being worn for a week or so. and cooking  containers that have silver in the plastic to for anti microbial action.

A Bible verse that is just perfect...... for the situation.

Collodial silver as a topical solultion works. It the ingesting part for virus's, and the like that it may not work as claimed.
