No mention what subtype… A new strain of Delta has been detected in New South Wales - but at this stage there is no indication it is any more transmissible or severe than existing strains. NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant announced today that eight people had a COVID-19 strain that does not match the current variant currently circulating in Sydney. Seven of those cases are within the same household. |

We’ve linked that back to a person who returned from overseas but the exact mechanism of how that new Delta strain emerged and got into the community in Western Sydney is still under investigation. |
